A One Day Educational Excursion to PU Organized by Physics Department of M M Modi College

A one-day educational excursion was organized by Department of Physics, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala to Department of Physics Panjab University, Chandigarh under the guidance of Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar. Forty students of B.Sc. (NM/CS) participated in the visit accompanied by four faculty members of Physics Department Dr. Kavita (HOD), Dr. Pooja, Dr. Kanandeep and Dr. Manpreet Kaur. The objective of the visit was to provide students the practical demonstration of a particle accelerator, Cyclotron which is installed in Physics department of Panjab University. The visit was co-ordinated by Dr. Ashok Kumar, In-Charge, Cyclotron. The students were explained in detail about the construction and working of Cyclotron by the research scholars Dr. Amit and Dr. Chetan Sharma.
The students also visited around the University and enjoyed lunch at Student Centre. The group also visited famous sculpture garden called Rock Garden founded by Padam Shri Nek Chand ji. Sculptures made from industrial and domestic waste inspired the students about protecting the environment by adapting waste management technologies. The students were amused to see the funny depiction of Optics in Laughing Mirrors section at the garden where big concave and convex mirrors are arranged in a special manner to reflect funny, distorted images of anyone entering the room. These activities piqued scientific interest among students. Students also had lot of fun at the garden in addition to learning, by indulging in various activities like watching the aquarium, riding swings, and splashing in the waterfall.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਫਿਜ਼ਿਕਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਭੌਤਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ: ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਇੱਕ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਦੌਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਚਾਲੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭੌਤਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਡਾ. ਕਵਿਤਾ (ਵਿਭਾਗ ਮੁਖੀ), ਡਾ. ਪੂਜਾ, ਡਾ. ਕਾਨਨਦੀਪ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦੌਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ।ਇਸ ਦੌਰੇ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਮੁੱਖ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਭੌਤਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਇੱਕ ਕਣ ਐਕਸਲੇਟਰ, ਸਾਈਕਲੋਟ੍ਰੋਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੈਕਟੀਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰੇ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਸਾਈਕਲੋਟਰੋਨ ਦੇ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਡਾ: ਅਸ਼ੋਕ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਰਿਸਰਚ ਸਕਾਲਰ ਡਾ: ਅਮਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ: ਚੇਤਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਈਕਲੋਟ੍ਰੋਨ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ। ਸਮੂਹ ਨੇ ਪਦਮ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਨੇਕ ਚੰਦ ਜੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਰਾਕ ਗਾਰਡਨ ਨਾਮਕ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਰਾਕ ਗਾਰਡਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਦੌਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਦਯੋਗਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਰਹਿੰਦ-ਖੂੰਹਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਮੂਰਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੂੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾ ਕੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਗਾਰਡਨ ਦੇ ਲਾਫਿੰਗ ਮਿਰਰ ਸੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਟਿਕਸ ਦੇ ਮਜ਼ੇਦਾਰ ਚਿੱਤਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋਏ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਕਨਵੈਕਸ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਨਵੈਕਸ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਡਿਸਪਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਜ਼ਾਕੀਆ, ਵਿਗੜੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਰਿਕਆਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਰੁਚੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਗਾਰਡਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਐਕੁਏਰੀਅਮ ਦੇਖਣਾ, ਝੂਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਝਰਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਲਿਆ ।
