Multani Mal Modi College Illuminates International Women’s Day with a Call to “Accelerate Action”

In a resonant tribute to the indomitable spirit of womanhood, Multani Mal Modi College commemorated International Women’s Day with a stirring celebration. Under the galvanizing banner of “Accelerate Action,” the event served as a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of empowerment, creative effervescence, and the unwavering constructive force that defines women’s contributions to society. The Department of Social Sciences, in harmonious collaboration with the NCC and NSS units, orchestrated an event that transcended mere observation, becoming a poignant call to action.
The chief guest. Shri. Prabodh Kumar, IPS, former Director General of Police, Punjab, delivered a powerful keynote address, underscoring the transformative alchemy women bring to fields as diverse as science, literature, administration, policymaking, and the very edifice of nation-building. “The unique cadence of feminine insight,” he remarked, “is not merely an addition but a vital ingredient, indispensable to the recipe of progress and holistic societal advancement.”
Adding a resounding note of inspiration, the celebration paid homage to the 32 remarkable women achievers who have carved indelible marks in the realms of medicine, science, journalism and mass communication, business, commerce and administration, and education. The names of the achievers included Dr. Monika Garg, Professor and Head, Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicine, Government Medical Rajindra hospital, Patiala, Dr. Poonam Gupta, Lecturer (Hindi) State Awardee, Government Senior Secondary School, Patiala, Mrs. Satwinder Pal Kaur Walia, Social Worker and Head, Jagbani and Punjab Kesari and Davi Davinder Kaur, Editor of Daily Newspaper Rozana Spokesman. These luminaries serve as beacons of possibility, embodying the limitless potential that lies within every woman.
The Guest of Honour, Ms. Harjot Kaur, PCS, Additional State Transport Commissioner, Punjab, congratulated the achievers. Her words resonated with a profound understanding of the strength inherent in unity and the crucial role women play in forging the ethical bedrock of our communities. “In the tapestry of society,” she eloquently stated, “women are the threads of resilience and integrity. Bound together by shared values and unwavering support, they not only fortify their own safety but also weave a moral compass to guide future generations.”
Dr. Neeraj Goyal, the Principal of Multani Mal Modi College, offered a historical perspective, drawing upon the rich tapestry of ancient Indian culture to illuminate the enduring legacy of women’s contributions to civilization. “Our ancient texts,” he intoned, “are replete with paeans to the strength, wisdom, and nurturing essence of womanhood. It is our solemn duty to honor this legacy by fostering an environment where women can flourish and realize their full potential.”
The cadets of NCC wings of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala also enacted a play based on the life journey and struggles of first Indian female doctor, Anandi Gopal Joshi. The play is penned down by Caroline Healey and S. J. Joshi. A Mime based on empowerment of women was also presented under the able guidance of Lt (Dr.) Nidhi Rani Gupta, Lt (Dr.) Rohit Sachdeva and Flying Officer Dr. Sumeet Kumar. College student Subhangini Sharma presented some beautiful songs and another student Gurjant Singh recited a poem.

The stage was conducted by Student Ekamjot kaur and the Vote of Thanks was presented by Vice Principal Prof. Jasvir Kaur. All staff members and students were present in the event.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੱਜ ਕੌਮਾਂਤਰੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਇਨੋਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਸਾਇੰਸਿਜ਼ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਅੇੱਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਐੱਨ.ਐੱਸ.ਐੱਸ ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਇਸ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ-ਸਮਾਜਿਕ, ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਮਣਾ ਖੱਟਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ 32 ਔਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਾਈ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ-ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ. ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਆਈ.ਪੀ.ਐੱਸ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਜਨਰਲ ਆਫ਼ ਪੁਲਿਸ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲਿੰਗ ਸਮਾਨਤਾ ਲਈ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ, ਸਾਹਿਤ, ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ, ਸਿਆਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ “ਔਰਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਲਿਆਉਣੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਸੀਲ ਤੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਮਿਲਣਗੇ।“
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ, ਪੁਲਿਸ ਫੋਰਸ, ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਿਜ਼ਨਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦੇ ਦਮ ਤੇ ਸਫਲ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ।ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਰਾਜਿੰਦਰਾ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਲੱਡ ਟ੍ਰਾਂਸ਼ਫਿਊਜ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਡੀਸਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਮੋਨਿਕਾ ਗਰਗ, ਸਟੇਟ ਐਵਾਰਡੀ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾ ਡਾ. ਪੂਨਮ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਸਤਵਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਵਾਲੀਆ , ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵਿਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਜੱਗ ਬਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕੇਸਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਵੀ ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਸੰਪਾਦਕ, ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਪੋਕਸਮੈਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ।
ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਹਰਜੋਤ ਕੌਰ, ਪੀ.ਸੀ.ਐੱਸ, ਵਧੀਕ ਸਟੇਟ ਟਰਾਂਸਪੋਰਟ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਸੀ ਸਮਝਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਸੀ ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਰਾਹੀ ਮਸਲੇ ਹੱਲ ਕਰਨੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਮੀਰ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਿਸਾਲਾਂ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੈਡਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਆਨੰਦੀ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਜੋਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਣ-ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਸਕਿੱਟ ਵੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਕੈਡਟਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੈਫ਼ਟੀਨੈਂਟ (ਡਾ) ਨਿਧੀ ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਲੈਫ਼ਟੀਨੈਂਟ (ਡਾ) ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਸੁਮੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਇੱਕ ਭਾਵਪੂਰਨ ਮਾਈਮ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਸ਼ਕਤੀਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਥਾਪਰ ਪੌਲੀਟੈਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਲਜ, ਫ਼ਿਜ਼ੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ, ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿੰਦਰਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਗਰਲਜ਼ ਕੈਡੇਟਸ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਸ਼ੁਭਾਗਨੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਖ਼ੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਗੀਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਜੌਗਰਫੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਮਨਿੰਦਰ ਦੀਪ ਚੀਮਾ, ਅਰਥ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਸਟੇਜ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਏਕਮਜੋਤ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਸਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।
