National Science Day Based on theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat” celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, today celebrated National Science Day to remember Nobel Prize winner Indian Physicist Dr. C.V. Raman. This year’s theme, “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat,” emphasizes the important role of women researchers, innovators, and leaders in advancing science and driving the country’s progress toward a developed (Viksit Bharat) future.

The chief guest in this event was Dr. Balwinder Singh Sooch (Professor, Department of Biotechnology and Food Technology, Punjabi University; Deputy Co-ordinator IPRs and Technology Transfer Cell and IPRs Chair DPIIT, Govt. of India). The Guest of Honour was Ms. Jasvinder Kaur (Assistant Director, Directorate of School Education Punjab and Senior Secondary Science Co-ordinator for Physics, Chemistry and Biology).

College Principal, Dr. Neeraj Goyal welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries and the participating students. He said that Science and technology are two wheels of modern society. He motivated the students to engage with scientific discoveries and innovation and contribute to the society as a good citizen.

Dr. Balwinder Singh Sooch in his address said that Science is a continue process of observation, analysis and extract the logical conclusions. He said that Science is dynamic process and not a static science. He congratulated the Modi College for planning an interdisciplinary platform for the students and said that we need to develop scientific temperament in our society and in our future generations.

The Guest of Honour Ms. Jasvinder Kaur said that our government is committed for development of Science and innovation through various government schemes and initiatives. She asked the teachers to include best scientific knowledge and practices in their syllabus.

Conveners Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dean Research and Physical Sciences, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Dean Life Sciences, Dr. Varun Jain, Head Department of Mathematics motivated the students to participate with enthusiasm and zeal. More than 180students of the college participated in various competitions.

On this day dedicated to Science, Modi College also felicitated 20Distinguished Educators of science and presented them appreciation awards to mark their achievements in their respective fields and for their contributions to the society.

To mark the Science Day various competitions and events were organised. In Science based Quiz competition the first position was won by team of Kartik Goyal, Dolly kakkar and Amanjot kaur , Bsc.Medical, Part I and the second position bagged by the team of Hemant Sankhla, Aditya Kaushik and Bhanu Kapoor, Bsc. (CS ) Part I.

In Scientific Rangoli making competition the team of Jaspreet kaur and Gaganjeet Kaur, Bsc.Medical, Part I stood first and team of Sanjog kaur and Gurmeet kaur, Bsc.Medical, Part I bagged the second position

.In the Scientific paper reading competition students presented their papers on ‘Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development’, ‘Women in Science & Leadership’, ‘Biodiversity Loss and the Sixth Mass Extinction’, ‘Antimicrobial Resistance: The Silent Pandemic’ and ‘Stem Cell Therapy: Ethics and Applications’. In this competition Ms. Noorpreet Kaur, Msc Chemistry Part-II won the first position. The second position begged by Mr. Jagat Narayan Singla, a student of Msc. Biotechnology Part I.

In poster presentation the students depicted the theme ‘Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat’. The first position was won by Ms. Sanjana, Bsc. (Medical) Part II and the second position bagged by Ms. Harveer Kaur, Bsc. (Medical ) Part I.

In caption contest the first prize was won by Mr. Jagat Narayan Singla, a student of Msc. Biotechnology Part-I and Ms. Damanpreet Kaur, Bsc. (Medical) Part-I won the second position.

In the innovative project ‘Best out of Waste’ competition the first position was won by team of Pallavi and Radhika (Msc Chemistry Part-II) won the first position and second position was secured by Noorpreet Kaur and Kashish (Msc Chemistry Part-II)

The winners of various competitions were presented with certificates and prizes by the chief guest, guest of honour and principal. The stage was conducted by Dr. Bhanvi Wadhawan and Dr. Kavita. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Harjinder Singh.

Dr. Chetna Gupta, Dr. Bhanvi Wadhawan, Dr. Santosh Bala, Dr. Harjinder Singh and Dr. Kavita, Organising secretaries put special efforts to make this programme successful. In this National Science Day celebrations, faculty members of Department of Botany, Biotechnology and Food Technology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology were instrumental in conducting various events.

ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਡਾ. ਬਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੂਚ,ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਬਾਇਉਟਕੈਨੋਲੌਜੀ ਐਂਡ ਫੂਡ ਟਕੈਨੋਲੌਜੀ,ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਤੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕੋ-ਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਆਈਪੀਆਰ ਐਂਡ ਟਕੈਨੋਲੌਜੀ ਟਰਾਂਸਫਰ ਸੈੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਆਈਪੀਆਰ ਚੇਅਰ ਡੀਪੀਆਈਆਈਟੀ, ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਜਸਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਐਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ, ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟੌਰੇਟ ਆਫ ਸਕੂਲ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਤੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਕੋ-ਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ (ਫਿਜ਼ਿਕਸ, ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਇਉਲੌਜੀ) ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ:ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ, ਪਤਵੰਤੇ ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਧੁਰੇ ਹਨ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਖੋਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸਮਾਜ ਨੁੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ੳੱਗੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।

ਡਾ. ਬਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੂਚ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਤੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੂਲ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੜਚੋਲ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਟੇ ਕੱਢਣ ਦੀ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਤੇ ਲੰਬੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਪੱਧਤੀ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸ਼ਖਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਤਰ-ਸੰਵਾਦ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਾ ਪਤਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਰਾਹੀ ਇਸ ਸੋਚ ਨੂੰ ਅਮਲੀ ਜਾਮਾ ਪਹਿਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਸ਼ੀ੍ਰਮਤੀ ਜਸਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਸੋਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਲੇਬਸਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਕੁਸ਼ਲਤਾਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਫੋਕਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਡਾ: ਸੰਜੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡੀਨ ਰਿਸਰਚ ਐਂਡ ਫਿਜ਼ੀਕਲ ਸਇੰਸਜ਼, ਡਾ.ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡੀਨ ਲਾਈਫ ਸ਼ਾਇੰਸਿਜ਼, ਡਾ.ਵਰੁਣ ਜੈਨ, ਮੁਖੀ, ਮੈਥਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਲੱਗਭੱਗ 190 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਭਾਗ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਔਰਤ-ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦਗਾਰੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਿਆ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਵੀਹ ਨਾਮਵਰ ਸਇੰਸਦਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਣਮੱਤੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਣਮੁੱਲੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਟੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਡਾ. ਕਵਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਨਿਭਾਈ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦਿਵਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਗਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਕੁਇਜ਼ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਕਾਰਤਿਕ ਗੋਇਲ, ਡੌਲੀ ਕੱਕੜ੍ਹ ਤੇ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ (ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ) ਨੇ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਜਦਕਿ ਹੇਮੰਤ ਸਨਖਲਾ,ਅਦਿੱਤਿਆ ਕੌਸ਼ਿਕ ਤੇ ਭਾਨੂ ਕਪੂਰ ((ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ) ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਦੂਜੇ ਸ਼ਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਰਹੇ।

ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਰੰਗੋਲੀ ਮੇਕਿੰਗ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਸਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਗਗਨਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ((ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ.ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ) ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਯੋਗ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਕੌਰ ((ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ.ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ )ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਪੇਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ‘ਗਰੀਨ ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ ਫਾਰ ਸਸਟੇਨੇਬਲ ਡਿਵੈਲਪਮੈਂਟ, ‘ਵੂਮੈਨ ਇਨ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਐਂਡ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ’, ‘ਬਾਇਉ-ਡੈਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਲੌਸ ਐਂਡ ਸਿਕਸਥ ਮਾਸ ਐਕਟਿਨਸਿਨ’, ‘ਐਂਟੀਮਾਈਕ੍ਰੋਬੀਇਲ ਰਿਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ: ਦੀ ਸਾਈਲਟ ਪੈਨਡੈਮਿਕਸ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਸਟੈਮ ਸੈੱਲ ਥਰੈਪੀ: ਐਥਿਕਸ ਐਂਡ ਐਪਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨਜ਼’ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੇਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਕੀਤੇ।ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਮ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਨੂਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਐਮ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਬਾਇਉਟੈਕਨੌਲੌਜੀ ਭਾਗ-ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਜਗਤ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਸਿੰਗਲਾ ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਪੋਸਟਰ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ‘ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ:ਵਿਕਿਸਤ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਸੰਕਲਪ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਨਵਸ ਤੇ ਸਾਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਮਿਸ.ਸੰਜਨਾ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਮਿਸ.ਹਰਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਨੇ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਕੈਪਸ਼ਨ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਇਨਾਮ ਐਮ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਬਾਇਉਟੈਕਨੌਲੌਜੀ ਭਾਗ-ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਜਗਤ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਸਿੰਗਲਾ ਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਮੈਡੀਕਲ, ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਦਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਇੱਕ ਨਿਵੇਕਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ‘ਦ ਬੈਸਟ ਆਊਟ ਆਫ ਵੇਸਟ’ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਲੱਵੀ ਤੇ ਰਾਧਿਕਾ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ (ਐਮ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ, ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ) ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੂਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਕਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ (ਐਮ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ. ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ, ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ) ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਤੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੇਤੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ, ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
