Modi College Celebrates Punjabi week with winners of Sahit Academy Yuva-Pursukar
The Post-Graduate Department of Punjabi, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized a discussion cum Ru-b-Ru with the Sahit Academy winner Punjabi poets to celebrate ‘Punjabi-Month’ and to engage the students with the new trends in Punjabi poetry under the able guidance of college principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar. Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head, Department of Punjabi formally introduced the awardee poets, Shri Ranjeet Sarawali and Prof. Deepak Dhalewa. He said that each era of poetry is product of its times and these two collections of poetry, ‘Pani Utte Meenakaari’ and ‘Malaha toh Bina’ are evidence of this fact.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the poets and said that as a literary art the poetry of our times is passing through an existential crisis because of its disassociation with the ground realities of our land. He said that it is a matter of grave concern that we need to organize such ‘Punjabi-weeks’ to emphasize the importance of our own mother tongue.
Addressing the students Sh. Ranjeet Sarawali discussed his life events and inspiration behind becoming a poet. He said that for becoming a good writer one must pass through the inevitable pain of hard work and endless experiences of struggling with adversity. He motivated the students to engage with the socio-political conditions and issues of the society to make their writings truthful and realistic. He also shared some of his poems from his collection, ‘Pani Utte Meenakari’.
Prof. Deepak Dhalewa while interacting with the students spoke about process of his poetic journey and said that sensitivity and intelligence are important for a poet but a good poet must understand the meter, symbolism, context and the form of his poems. He also discussed the significance of a rhythmic tone and ability of the poet to impact the all senses of the readers or listeners.
During this event a lively discussion on the poems of these poets was also held. The stage was conducted by Dr. Devinder Singh and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Manjeet Kaur, both from the Department of Punjabi. A large number of students and teachers were present in this event.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਅਗੁਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ-ਗਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰਗਤ ‘ਪੰਜਾਬੀ-ਮਾਹ’ ਅਧੀਨ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਯੁਵਾ- ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਰਾਂਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਦੀਪਕ ਧਲੇਂਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਰੂਬਰੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਾਵਿ-ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਰਚਿਤ ਨਵੇਂ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਰੁਬਰੂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।
ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਲੇਖਣੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਧਾ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਗਹਿਰੇ ਸੰਕਟ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਥਾਨਿਕ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਦਰਦ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ‘ਪੰਜਾਬੀ-ਮਾਹ’ ਮਨਾਉਣਾ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ.ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਨਵੇਂ ਬਿੰਬ੍ਹਾਂ, ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਚਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਨਵੇਂ ਦੌਰ ਦੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ-ਰੂਪ ਉਸ ਦੌਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਖੋਂ-ਵੱਖਰੇ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਘਾੜਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਵੀ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਰਾਂਵਾਲੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਵਣ-ਯਾਤਰਾ, ਕਵੀ ਬਣਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਵਿ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ‘ਪਾਣੀ ਉੱੇਤੇ ਮੀਨਾਕਾਰੀ’ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਬਾਰੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਲਈ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਅਧਿਐਨ, ਅਭਿਆਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੁਭਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਤਕਲੀਫਦੇਹ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਕਵੀ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਵਾਪਰ ਰਹੇ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਨਿਆਜ਼ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ।
ਆਪਣੀ ਬਹੁ-ਚਰਚਿਤ ਕਿਤਾਬ ‘ਮਲਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ’ ਲਈ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ ਯੁਵਾ-ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਵੀ ਦੀਪਕ ਧਲੇਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਗਜ਼ਲਗੋਂ ਲਈ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੌਧਿਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਬਹਿਰ, ਵਜ਼ਨ ਤੇ ਕਾਫੀਏ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਹੋਣੀ ਵੀ ਮਹਤੱਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਪੁੰਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਕਾਵਿ-ਉਚਾਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਦੇ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਰੋਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਪਾਠਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਉਸਾਰੂ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਸਿਰਜ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕੁਸ਼ਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਡਾ. ਮਨਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ।
