    Three-day Orientation Programme for Entry Level Students Concludes at MM Modi College

    Patiala: Sept 3, 2022

    Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized three-day orientation programme for the newly admitted students. The objective of this programme was to introduce the students to the academic traditions, ethos and academic culture of the college as well as to its various departments and faculties.

    College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar inaugurated the programme and welcomed the new students in the college campus. He motivated the students to focus on their intellectual growth, critical thinking and analytic skills for social productivity of their education. Referring to freedom struggle of India and examples of Bhagat Singh and other revolutionaries he motivated them to learn from such sacrifices.

    In the first session Vice principal of the college and Head of English Department Prof Shailendra Sidhu discussed with the students the policies of Anti-Ragging Cell, Women Cell and college magazine ‘The Luminary’. She said that students should maintain decorum and should not involve in any unlawful activities.

    Dr. Ajit Kumar, Controller of Examination of the college discussed with the students the academic calendar, unit planning and lecture requirement. The students were told about different cultural activities and competitions, the time-tables and other administrative arrangements at the college. They were also advised about various UGC recognized Add-on and Certificate courses, Placement Cell, Finishing School Programme, different societies, clubs and wall magazines. The students were also encouraged to join National Social Service and Buddy programme. The students learned about scholarship schemes, General Study Circle and activities of sports departments. A brief report about the activities of Placement Cell of the college and NCC was also presented. The students were also encouraged to join Bharat Scouts and Guides Wings. The Informational systems of the college and its usages were also discussed.

    This programme was successfully conducted with support and coordination of Prof. Neena Sareen, Dean, Commerce and Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Registrar of the college, Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head of Punjabi Department, Prof Ved Prakash Sharma, Dean, Student Welfare, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Head, Department of Business Management, Dr. Harmohan Sharma, Department of Computer Science, Dr. Rajeev Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Ganesh Sethi, Dr. Nishan Singh, Dean Sports, Dr. Rohit Sachdeva, NCC officer, Dr. Rupinder Singh, Incharge BSGW, Prof. Vinay Garg, Head, Department of Computer Science and all staff of the college.

    ਸਥਾਨਿਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਵੇਂ ਦਾਖਿਲ਼ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਿੰਨ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਓਰੀਐਨਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅੱਜ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਸ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦਾਖਿਲ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਰਵਾਇਤਾਂ, ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਕਿਫ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇਸਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇਣਾ ਸੀ।

    ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਤੇ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾ ਲੈਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲ਼ਿਖਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਜੀਵਨੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਦਿਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੇਂਦਿਰਤ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਿਕ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਜੀਵਣ-ਜਾਂਚ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।

    ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ੈਂਲੇਦਰਾ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਂਟੀ ਰੈਗਿੰਗ ਸੈੱਲ, ਵੂਮੈਂਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਮੈਗਜ਼ੀਨ ‘ਦਿ ਲਿਊਮਨਰੀ’ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸ਼ਨ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਗਲਤ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਡਾ. ਅਜੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਕੰਟਰੋਲਰ ਆਫ਼ ਇੰਗਜਾਮੀਨੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਕੈਲੰਡਰ ਤੇ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਪਲੈਨਿੰਗ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ -ਪੂਰਵਕ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਨਵੇਂ ਦਾਖਿਲ਼ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਈਮ ਟੇਬਲ ਬਾਰੇ, ਐਡ ਅੋਨ ਕੋਰਸਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਲੱਬਾਂ, ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਵਾਲ-ਮੈਗਜ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

    ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪਲੇਸਮੈਂਟ ਸੈੱਲ ਬਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਖੇਪ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਵੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਐੱਨ.ਐੱਸ.ਐੱਸ ਤੇ ਬੱਡੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ।ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਵੱਖੋਂ-ਵੱਖਰੀਆਂ ਵਜ਼ੀਫਾ, ਭਲਾਈ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ, ਜਨਰਲ ਸਟੱਡੀ ਸਰਕਲ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਡ-ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਐੱਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਕਾਊਟ ਤੇ ਗਾਈਡਜ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਇੰਨਫਰਮੇਸ਼ਨ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।

    A Rendezvous with Author Khushwant Singh at MMModi College, Patiala

    The literary Society ‘Arcadia’ of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala in collaboration with Book Lovers’ Retreat Club, Patiala today organized a rendezvous with Author Khushwant Singh, State Information Commissioner, Punjab to discuss the thematic concerns of his novel, ‘The Opium Toffee’ and to reiterate the necessity of fictionalizing the turbulent times. It was focused at enlightening the students with the contemporary literary writings in English language and their impact on our society.
    College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the speaker and said that it is important to develop reading culture among youth because literature is both the mirror and medium to reflect the realities, tragedies and truth of any society. Prof. Vaneet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of English elaborated the story, characters and plot of the novel. She said that the book depicts various narratives built around the life of Punjabi people. She said that the book beautifully explores the repercussions of immigration, drugs and the culture of maladaptive behavior.
    In his interaction with the students the author Khushwant Singh deliberated upon his writing journey and said that I am a product of militancy era of Punjab. He told that along with my column in Hindustan Times newspaper I was interested in telling the stories about Punjab in a literary way. According to him the image of Punjab manufactured by the national mass media is quite disturbing and needs to be addressed through creative writing. He also discussed the impact of various political and social circumstances on his writing.
    In the interactive session the students asked the author various questions about the process of writing and the story line cum characters of the novel.
    This programme was coordinated by Dr. Harleen Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of English.
    Dr. Kiranjot Uppal, Senior Medical Officer, Ghanaur, on behalf of Book Lovers’ Retreat Club, Patiala presented her reflections on the novel and invited the girl students to become a member of the club.
    In this programme, the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Damanjeet Sandhu, Department of Psychology, Punjabi University, and Patiala. In the event Prof.Jagdeep Kaur, proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the college. In the event Prof. Gaganpreet kaur, Prof. Taminder kaur, Prof. Tanvir kaur, Prof. Chitvan Thind, Prof. Harpreet Singh were also present.

    ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀ ਇੰਗਲਿਸ਼ ਲਿਟਰੇਰੀ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ, ‘ਆਰਕੇਡੀਆ’ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਬੁੱਕ ਲਵਰਜ਼ ਰਿਟ੍ਰੀਟ ਕਲੱਬ’, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ- ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਕਿਤਾਬ ‘ ਦੀ ਉਪੀਅਮ ਟੌਫੀ’ ਦੇ ਲੇਖਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ।ਇਸ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਚੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਰਚਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਲੇਖਕ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਰਚੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਕਿਰਦਾਰਾਂ, ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ, ਪਲਾਟ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਬੁੱਕ ਲਵਰਜ਼ ਰਿਟ੍ਰੀਟ ਕਲੱਬ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ।
    ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ -ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਣ ਦੀ ਰੁਚੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਕਿਸੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੀਸਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਲਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਚਾਈਆਂ, ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਤਰਾਸਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਅਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ,’ ਦੀ ਉਪੀਅਮ ਟਾਫੀ’ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ-ਬਣਤਰ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਕਿਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਲਾਟ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ -ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਹ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਤੇ ਉਤਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਪਰਵਾਸ, ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਤਾਣੇ-ਬਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਘੁਲਣ ਦੇ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਹੈ।
    ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਲੇਖਕ ਖੁਸ਼ਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਿਕ-ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਖਕ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਜਰਬਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਝਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੱਤਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੇਖਣ ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਅਸਰ ਹੈ।ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਕਿਰਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਢਾਲਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮੁੱਖ- ਧਾਰਾ ਦੇ ਜਨ-ਸੰਚਾਰ ਮਾਧਿਅਮਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਘੜਿਆ ਅਕਸ ਤੋੜਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਲੇਖਣੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਗਹਿਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
    ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਣ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰਫੈਸਰ ਡਾ. ਹਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ।
    ਇਸ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੇਖਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਨਾਵਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਸਵਾਲ ਵੀ ਪੁੱਛੇ।’ਬੁੱਕ ਲਵਰਜ਼ ਰਿਟ੍ਰੀਟ ਕਲੱਬ’ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਡਾ.ਦਮਨਜੀਤ ਸੰਧੂ, ਅਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰਫੈਸਰ, ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ।ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੋਰ, ਜੌਗਰਫੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ।ਡਾ. ਕਿਰਨ ਉੱਪਲ, ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਅਫਸਰ, ਘਨੌਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਕ ਕਲੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

    Youth Parliament held at Multani Mal Modi College Patiala

    Patiala: August 22, 2022

    The Department of English, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, today organized a model Youth Parliament to equip the students with working knowledge regarding structure and functionality of parliament in India. The objective of this event was to provide a learning platform for students of social Sciences and make them understand how a particular session is being held, how debates, discourses and discussions are held and policies are formulated. A model of Indian parliament was adopted to constitute the different organs functional in a session.

    College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while addressing the students said Indian Parliament is an example of how a country with so diverse identities, classes, sections and differences formulates its policies and programs for development and progress. He emphasized upon the constitutional values and the legacy of freedom struggle for guidance in future policies.

    Prof. Balbir Singh (Ex. Prof. Department of Punjabi) said that the youth of today is leader of tomorrow and it is very important for students to learn about how democracy works in India.

    Vice Principal Prof. Shailendra Sidhu congratulated the students for conducting such live and informational session. Dean Students Welfare Prof.Ved Prakash Sharma said that such programmes are instrumental in shaping the ideas and thoughts of students regarding our parliamentary system. Prof. Jagdeep Kaur while acting as judges with Prof.Shailendra Sidhu and Prof.Ved Prakash Sharma said that the issues and problems discussed by the students as parliamentarians are very important and need urgent attention.

    In the running session of Model parliament the students as member of parliament bring forth the issues of gender violence, the role of Indian Public Health System during Covid-19, the problems of Indian Education System, the new schemes regarding Indian army recruitment etc and discussed the critical aspects of these issues. It was interesting to witness the students to answer the questions of opposition parties as heads of different Government Departments.

    The programme was coordinated by Dr.Harleen Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of English. Prof. Vaneet kaur and all faculty members were present in this programme.

    ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਡਲ ਯੂਥ ਪਾਰਲੀਮੈਂਟ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਮਾਡਲ ਯੂਥ ਪਾਰਲੀਮੈਂਟ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ੋਸ਼ਲ ਸ਼ਾਇੰਸ਼ਿਜ਼ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰੀ ਮੁਲਕ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਪਾਰਲੀਮੈਂਟ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਜਸ਼ੈਲੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇਣਾ ਸੀ।ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਰਾਹੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਮਹੁੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰਲੀਮੈਂਟ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਰੱਖਕੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਚਲੰਤ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੈਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬਹਿਸਾਂ, ਮਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਜੀਵ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਚਲਾਈ।

    ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪਾਰਲੀਮੈਂਟ ਇਸ ਤੱਥ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਰਗਾ ਇੰਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਭਿੰਨਤਾਵਾਂ, ਵਖਰੇਵਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀਆਂ-ਵਰਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੁਲਕ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਿਕ ਮੁੱਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ-ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

    ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਉਚੇਚੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਬਲਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ( ਸਾਬਕਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ,ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ) ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦਾ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਕੱਲ ਦਾ ਨੇਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਚੋਣ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਦੀ-ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਹੋਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।

    ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ੈਲੇਦਰਾ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ।ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ, ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟ ਭਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵੇਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਦ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ-ਕਾਜ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ੈਲੇਦਰਾ ਸਿੱਧੂ, ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਵੇਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੱਜ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਠਾਏ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਮਹਤੱਵਪੂਰਨ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

    ਇਸ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ,ਕੋਵਿਡ-19 ਦੌਰਾਨ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਿਹਤ -ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ,ਸਿੱਖਿਆ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਾਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਫੌਜ ਭਰਤੀ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਮਤੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਚਰਚਾ,ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਹਿਸ ਤੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ।ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਹਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਰੋਚਕ ਰਿਹਾ।

    ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਡਾ.ਹਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਡਾ.ਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

    76th Independence Day Celebration at Multani Mal Modi College

    Multani Mal Modi College , Patiala celebrated 76th Independence Day in collaboration with 5 Punjab Battalion NCC , 4 Punjab Girls Battalion and 3 Punjab Air Squadron. The celebration was conducted under the able guidance of College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, Dean Students Prof. Ved Prakash, CTO air wing Dr. Sumeet Kumar,
    College Associate NCC Officer Lt Dr. Rohit Sachdeva , CTO girls wing Dr. Nidhi Gupta, and other senior staff members Dr Neeraj Goyal, Dr Varun Jain, Mr Ajay Gupta and Jaswinder Singh.

    The celebration started with flag hoisting and National Anthum. Followed by various activities such as NCC song , group song and solo songs preformed by the cadets. Speech on 75th Independence Day was given by Lance Corporal Naunidh Maurya and cadet Sejal. The College Principal congratulated the cadets on the 75th Independence Day and motivated them to work for the unity of the nation.

    The celebration ended with the joshfull warcry ‘BHARAT MATA KI JAI’ , which echoed throughout the college campus.
