Multani Mal Modi College Celebrated World Earth Day -2022

The Chemical Society of Multani Mal Modi College in collaboration with NSS Department, NCC Department and Bharat Scouts and Guides wings organized a Paper reading contest and Photo- caption writing competition to mark the World Earth Day- 2022. The objective of these competition was to bring into focus the climate issues and environmental problems and to aware the students about sustainable measures needed for revive the earth. An online and offline pledge was also held for students and teachers for saving the mother earth.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while addressing the students said that this year the theme for World Earth Day is ‘Invest in our planet’ calling for humanity to change the political and environment discourse toward more sustainable and comprehensive approach to save our mother earth and toward the depleting natural resources.
Vice-principal of the college Prof. Shailendra Sidhu also motivated the students to develop scientific understanding for our environmental issues and to be sensitive toward climate change.
Dr. Rajeev Sharma, head of Chemistry Department said that in the coming years the humans may face natural disasters and scarcity of essential resources due to global warming, the reckless misuse of natural resources and the profit mongering practices related to our forests, land and water.
College Registrar Dr. Ashwani Sharma also motivated the students to raise awareness for environmental issues and problems.
During the event in the ‘Caption Writing Competition’ the first prize was won by Harsahib Singh (BSc I Non-medical), second prize was bagged by Reeta (BSc II Non-medical) and third prize was bagged by Isha Rani (BSc II Non-medical). In the ‘Paper Reading Competition’ first prize was won by Isha Rani (BSc II Non-medical), second prize was shared between Ayush Singla (BSc II Non-medical) and Bhawna (BSc III Non-medical) and third prize was shared between Kulwinder Kaur (BSc II Non-medical) and Tanisha Sood (BSc III Non-medical). Dr. Anupma Parmar, Dr. Nidhi Gupta, Dr. Harjinder Singh and Dr. Sanjeev Sharma acted as judges during competitions.
During this event an online pledge was also taken by which 250 participants from six states took the pledge.
In this event the stage was conducted by Ms. Riya and Ms. Nandini, the students from Chemistry Department. The vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Gaganpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Chemistry Department.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀ ਕੈਮੀਕਲ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਐਨ. ਐੱਸ. ਐੱਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ.ਵਿਭਾਗ ਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਕਾਊਟਸ ਐਂਡ ਗਾਈਡਜ਼ ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਚੁਨੌਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪੇਪਰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਤੇ ਫ਼ੋਟੋ-ਕੈਪਸ਼ਨ ਰਾਈਟਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਪੇਸ਼ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਵਿਗਾੜਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਸੂੰਹ ਵੀ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ-ਭਰਾ ਤੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਦ ਵੀ ਲਿਆ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ‘ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਦਰ ਅਰਥ ਡੇ’ ਦਾ ਥੀਮ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ‘ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਵੇਸ਼’ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਾਨਵਤਾ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਰੰਭੇ ਗਏ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸੁਹਿਰਦ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਨੋਂ-ਦਿਨ ਸੁੰਗੜ ਰਹੇ ਵਸੀਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋਣ ਤੋ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕਰੇ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਸੈਂਲੈਦਰਾ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਗਲੇ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਧ ਰਹੇ ਤਾਪਮਾਨ, ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਵਸੀਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੁਰਵਰਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ‘ਜਲ-ਜੰਗਲ-ਜ਼ਮੀਨ’ ਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿੱਲਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੂਝਣਾ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਦਾ ਕੈਪਸ਼ਨ ਲਿਖਣ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਰਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ ( ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਰੀਟਾ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ( ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਤੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਈਸ਼ਾ ਰਾਣੀ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ (ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ‘ਧਰਤੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ’, ‘ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਂ’, ‘ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਤੇ ਰੋਕ’, ਅਤੇ ‘ਜਲਵਾਯੂ-ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨ’ ਤੇ ਪੇਪਰ ਵੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ।ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਈਸ਼ਾ ਰਾਣੀ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ (ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਆਯੂਸ਼ ਸਿੰਗਲਾ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ (ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ), ਭਾਵਨਾ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਤੀਜਾ (ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਤੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਕੁਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ (ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਅਤੇ ਤਨੀਸਾ ਸੂਦ, ਬੀ.ਐੱਸ.ਸੀ ਭਾਗ ਤੀਜਾ (ਨਾਨ-ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਜੱਜਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਡਾ. ਅਨੁਪਮਾ ਪਰਮਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਨਿਧੀ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਡਾ. ਹਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਸੰਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਨਿਭਾਈ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਸਹੁੰ ਵੀ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਗਈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੇ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਤੋਂ 250 ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਹੁੰ ਚੁੱਕੀ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ ਡਿਪਾਰਟਮੈਂਟ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੰਦਨੀ ਤੇ ਰਿਆ ਨੇ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਡਾ. ਗਗਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਅਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।
