149th Modi Jayanti celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organised a Hawan Yajna on the eve of 149th Modi Jayanti. A weeklong academic, Scientific, literary and skill -based competitions and activities were organised to remember the legacy of visionary founder and to pay obeisance to Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi ji. The management committee of the college said that he was one of the leading social reformers in this region who believed in the transformation of society by education and knowledge.
College Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal while remembering the legacy of the founder of the college said that he used education as a medium for bringing social change and to develop a multidisciplinary space for critical thinking. His vision is our guiding force, and the society should be thankful to him for his selfless service.
During the week-long celebrations, various competitions and skill-based activities were organised to engage the students.
A blood donation camp was organised by NSS wings, Buddy group and Red Ribbon Club on 9th October to spread the message of ‘Khoondaan-Mahadaan’ in which 50 units of blood donated by the faculty members and students of the college.
An Inter-Institutional Science Fair-2024 on the theme of ‘Science and Technology for Sustainable Development’ was organized which served a platform for the students to display their creativity and scientific understanding about recent trends in Science and Technology. This year 275 students from 16 schools and 9 college educational institutions presented their models and posters on the Environmental challenges and their mitigation, Emerging trends in Science and Technology, Biotechnology and Human welfare, Biodiversity conservation, Space science, Mathematics in human life, Chemistry for a better world, Health and Nutrition and Computers and Artificial Intelligence.
A special lecture on the topic “Role of Books in Human Life” was also organised as part of the week-long celebrations of Modi Jayanti to engage the students with the relevance of reading and writing good literature. The ‘Punjabi Sahit Sabha’, the literary society of the Post-graduate Department of Punjabi and the literary society ‘Arcadia’ of the English Department in collaboration with the Publication Bureau, Punjabi University, Patiala, organized a book –exhibition to promote the culture of reading. The special lecture was delivered by eminent Punjabi story writer and thinker Sh. Balwinder Singh Grewal who motivated the students to develop curiosity, skills in story-telling and creative thinking by inclusion of literary texts in their daily life.
An “Essay Writing Competition” was collectively organised by Departments of Computer Sciences, English Department, Hindi Department and Punjabi Department in which students from all departments of the college participated and expressed their ideas and opinions on ‘Urbanisation and its effects on the natural environment’, ‘New technology will shape our future: a new era of innovation’, ‘Online classes verses traditional classroom system’, ‘Indian knowledge system NEP 2020’ and ‘Social and Cultural impact of OTT platforms.’
On this auspicious occasion of Modi Jayanti celebrations all staff members were present in the ceremony. Member of the managing committee Prof Surindra Lal and Col. (Retd.) Karminder Singh also joined the Hawan Yajna ceremony.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ 149ਵੀਂ ਮੋਦੀ ਜਯੰਤੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਹਵਨ ਯੱਗ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਜਾ-ਅਰਚਨਾ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੂਰਅੰਦੇਸ਼ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ. ਰਾਏ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਸੇਠ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਹਿੱਤ ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਭਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ, ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ, ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਅਧਾਰਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵ-ਭਿੰਨੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਜ਼ਲੀ ਅਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਖਿੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੁਧਾਰਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਰਾਹੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਦੇ ਆਦਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਸੋਚ ਲਈ ਬਹੁ-ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨੀ ਸਥਾਨ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਮਾਰਗ ਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਭਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮਾਗਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੀਆ ਗਈਆਂ।
9 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ‘ਖ਼ੂਨਦਾਨ-ਮਹਾਦਾਨ’ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਫੈਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ ਵਿੰਗ, ਬੱਡੀ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਅਤੇ ਰੈੱਡ ਰਿਬਨ ਕਲੱਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖ਼ੂਨਦਾਨ ਕੈਂਪ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ 50 ਯੂਨਿਟ ਖ਼ੂਨਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸੇ ਹਫਤੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ‘ਸਥਾਈ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ’ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਅੰਤਰ-ਸੰਸਥਾਗਤ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਮੇਲਾ-2024 ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਖੋਜਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਸਮਝ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਸਾਲ 16 ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ 9 ਕਾਲਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਅਦਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ 275 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ‘ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ’, ‘ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਭਰਦੇ ਰੁਝਾਨ’, ‘ਬਾਇਓਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਭਲਾਈ’, ‘ਜੈਵ ਵਿਭਿੰਨਤਾ’, ‘ਪੁਲਾੜ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ,’ ‘ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਣਿਤ’, ‘ਰਸਾਇਣ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ,’ ‘ਸਿਹਤ ਅਤੇ ਪੋਸ਼ਣ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਟੀਫਿਸ਼ਲ ਇੰਨਟੈਲੀਜ਼ੈਸ ਆਦਿ ਵਿਸਿਆ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਡਲ ਅਤੇ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਖਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗਿਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨ ਲਈ ਮੋਦੀ ਜਯੰਤੀ ਦੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਜਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਜੋਂ “ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ” ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵੀ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਪੋਸਟ-ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਭਾ ‘ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਭਾ’ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਸਭਾ ‘ਆਰਕੇਡੀਆ’ ਨੇ ਪਬਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਿਊਰੋ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਪੁਸਤਕ-ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਵੀ ਲਗਾਈ। ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਘੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਹਾਣੀਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਕ ਸ਼. ਬਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਤਸੁਕਤਾ, ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਸੋਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸੇ ਹਫਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਹਿੰਦੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ “ਨਿਬੰਧ ਲੇਖਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ” ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ‘ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ‘ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਾਂ’,’ਨਵੀਂ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਾਂ ਆਕਾਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ: ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਯੁੱਗ’, ‘ਔਨਲਾਈਨ ਕਲਾਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਕਲਾਸਰੂਮ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ’, ‘ਭਾਰਤੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ: ਨਵੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੀਤੀ-2020′ ਅਤੇ ਉਟੀਟੀ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ’ ਆਦਿ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਮੋਦੀ ਜਯੰਤੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਹਵਨ ਯੱਗ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਸੁਰਿੰਦਰਾ ਲਾਲ, ਕਰਨਲ (ਰਿਟਾਇਰਡ) ਕਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ।
