Expert lecture on Biodiversity: Status and Management at Modi College
The Botany Department of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized an On-line expert lecture on the topic of ‘Biodiversity: Status and Management.’ The objective of this lecture was to discuss different perspectives and dimensions of biodiversity and to understand the importance of conservation and preservation of these natural resources. This lecture was focused on the theme chosen for this year by United Nations which is, ‘we are the part of solution’. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Avneet Pal Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Panjabi University, Patiala.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while welcoming the main speaker said that as a scientific branch of bio-sciences, biodiversity is crucial for utilization of these valuable resources for betterment of human life. The speaker was formally introduced by Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dean, Life Sciences and Head of Botany Department. He said that this lecture is important to bring a balanced approach towards our eco-systems and eco-resources and their valuable role in our life. He motivated the students to be sensitive toward eco-resources and to preserve them.
In his lecture Dr. Avneet Pal Singh demonstrated with number of research studies and data presentations that biological and ecological resources are being used in various international and domestic food, medicine, energy industries and others areas in India as well as globally. He said that during ongoing Corona pandemic these sources are playing the role of immunity builders and are being used in various medical treatments. He told that without preservation and restoration of our biodiversity resources and eco-systems it is impossible to think about sustainable life conditions. After the lecture a discussion was held with the speaker.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Santosh Bala, Assistant professor, Department of Botany. The event was technically managed by Dr. Rohit Schdeva. On this occasion Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Dr. Bhanvi Wadhawan, Dr. Akshita, Dr. Maninder, Dr. Manish, Dr. Heena, Dr. Teena and other were present. The lecture was attended by a large number of students.

ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਿੰਭਿੰਨਤਾ:ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸਣ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ
ਸਥਾਨਿਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਬਾਇੳਲੌਜੀਕਲ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਿੰਭਿੰਨਤਾ:ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਿੰਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਦੀ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅਤਿ-ਕੀਮਤੀ ਜੈਵਿਕ ਸੋਮਿਆਂ/ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਭਣ ਤੇ ਸਹੇਜਣ ਦੇ ਨੁਕਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।ਇਹ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਿੰਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਯੂਨਾਈਟਿਡ ਨੇਸ਼ਨਜ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਥੀਮ, ‘ਅਸੀਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦਾ ਹੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਾਂ’ ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਸੀ।ਇਸ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਅਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋ.(ਡਾ.) ਅਵਨੀਤ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਿੰਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਖੋਜ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਦੇਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੈਵਿਕ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੋਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਰਸਮੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਡਾ. ਅਸ਼ਵਨੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡੀਨ ਲਾਈਫ ਸਇੰਸਿਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਟਨੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖੀ ਨੇ ਕਰਵਾਈ। ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਲਈ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਿ ਜੈਵਿਕ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਭਣ ਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਗਹਿਰਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੈਵਿਕ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਾਰੇ ਸ਼ੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ.(ਡਾ.) ਅਵਨੀਤ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਿੰਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਪਹਿਲੂਆਂ ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਅਧਿਐਂਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਖੋਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਕੜ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਭੋਜਣ, ਦਵਾਈਆਂ, ਬਾਲਣ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਰੋਨਾ ਵਾਇਰਸ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਤੀੋਰੌਧਕ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਮੁੱਲੀ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਿਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਤੇ ਜੈਵਿਕ-ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਸੀ ਤਾਲਮੇਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗੀ ਤੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਅਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਬਾਟਨੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਡਾ. ਸੰਤੋਸ਼ ਬਾਲਾ ਨੇ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਡਾ. ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਭਾਨਵੀ ਵਧਾਵਨ, ਡਾ. ਮਨਿੰਦਰ, ਡਾ. ਮਨੀਸ਼, ਡਾ. ਹਿਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਟੀਨਾ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਸਨ।
