Arcadia Literary Society of Multani Mal Modi College Presents Fresco: A Celebration of World Poetry Day

In an elegant homage to the transformative power of verse, the Arcadia Society of the English Department at Multani Mal Modi College orchestrated a two-day literary festival, Fresco, on March 20-21, 2025, in celebration of World Poetry Day. This year’s theme, “Voices of Connection,” resonates profoundly within the fabric of our global community, articulating poetry’s capacity to foster understanding, empathy, and dialogue across diverse cultures. The event was sponsored by Parneet’s Achievers, IAS classes, Patiala.

The festival resonated with a kaleidoscope of literary endeavors, welcoming a plethora of activities and competitions that enliven the spirit of creative expression. Participants engaged in Calligraphy, Treasure Hunts, Spell Bees, Monologues, Picture Compositions, Poem Writing, Sketching Book Covers, Guess the Song challenges, Extempore speaking, and Book/Film Reviews, each showcasing the vibrancy and originality of the student body. Generously sponsored by Parneet’s Achiever IAS classes, the event promised an enriching experience for all involved. Dr. Sangeeta Handa, a distinguished Professor at RIMT University, Mandi Gobindgarh, and former Principal of Government Mahindra College, Patiala was the chief guest at this event.

In a thought-provoking address, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal of Multani Mal Modi College, eloquently articulated the relevance of poetry in our contemporary milieu, a time often characterized by social fragmentation and global upheaval. He posited that embracing the creativity and emotional nuances inherent in poetic expression not only nurtures a sense of community and belonging but also serves as a beacon of hope and cultural continuity.

Dr. Vaneet Kaur, Head, Department of English welcomed the chief guest and said that by venerating the art of poetry, we celebrate not only individual voices but also the collective heritage that shapes our shared human experience, inspiring future generations to cultivate a profound appreciation for the written word.

Dr. Sangeeta Handa enriched the discourse with her insightful reflections on the pivotal role of literary expression in navigating the complexities of modern life. She motivated the students to engage with the beautiful world of art and literature for a successful life.

The inaugural day of the festival witnessed an array of competitions, including Calligraphy, Poetry, and Short Story Writing. In Picture composition Bhavika Garg won the first position and Anoushka Dhaliwal stood second. In Poetry writing competition first position won by Taniya Kohli and the second position secured by Harsimran Singh Sehgal. In Sketching Arshdeep Kaur stood first while second position was won by Khushleen Kaur. In Book cover design Bhavika Garg was the winner. In Calligraphy Kiranpreet Kaur stood first and Deepali bagged the second position. Jerusha Janet was the winner of Cosplay and Garima won the first position in Extempore. In Guess the song competition the team of Meenakshi Rani, Naina and Ritika secured the first position. In the Film and Book reviews competition Noorpreet Kaur won the first position. The certificates and prizes were distributed to the winners of these competitions at the end of the programme.

The judges for these competitions were Mrs. Ishwinder Kaur, St Peter’s Academy, Patiala, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, DAV Global school, Patiala and Ms. Indu Sharma, Principal, Bhupindra International Public School, Patiala.

 

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਆਰਕੇਡੀਆ ਲਿਟਰੇਰੀ ਸੋਸਾਇਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਦਿਵਸ-2025 ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਦੋ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਉਤਸਵ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਿਮਟ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਮੰਡੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਕਾਰਜਸ਼ੀਲ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਸੰਗੀਤਾ ਹਾਂਡਾ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ, ਮਹਿੰਦਰਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੱਜਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਸਥਿਤ ਸੇਂਟ ਪੀਟਰ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਇਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਡੀ.ਏ.ਵੀ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਸਕੂਲ ਤੋਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਭੁਪਿੰਦਰਾ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਸਕੂਲ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਇੰਦੂ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ। ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ‘ਪਰਨੀਤਸ ਐਚੀਵਰ ਆਈ.ਏ.ਐਸ ਕਲਾਸਿਜ਼’ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਪਾਂਸਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਉਥਲ-ਪੁੱਥਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਿਸ਼ਚਤਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਾਡੀ ਮਜਬੂਤ ਢਾਲ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਰਜਨਾਤਮਿਕ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਪੱਕ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਡਾਕਟਰ ਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਮੁਖੀ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਲਿਖਣ, ਸੁਣਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਜ਼ਬਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਢੁਕਵੀਂ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਬਲਕਿ ਅਗਲੀਆਂ ਪੀੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ, ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਕਦਰਾਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਮੁੱਖ-ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਸੰਗੀਤਾ ਹਾਂਡਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸੱਭਿਅਤਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਬਿਆਨਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਲ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੀ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਜੁਗਲਬੰਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਪੜ੍ਹਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਸਾਹਿਤ ਉਤਸਵ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਲਿਖਾਈ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ, ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ, ਸਹੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ, ਫੋਟੋ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਨਾ, ਕਵਿਤਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦਾ ਸਰਵਰਕ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਇਨ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਆਦਿ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ।ਸਾਹਿਤ ਉਤਸਵ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਗੀਤ ਦੀ ਧੁਨ ਤੋਂ ਗੀਤ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਿਵਿਊ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਣ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਲਾਸਿਕ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਟੇਜ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਸੰਦੀਦਾ ਕਿਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਵੀਆਂ ਟੂਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਹਿਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੇਜ ਤੇ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ।

ਸਾਹਿਤ-ਉਤਸਵ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪਿਕਚਰ ਕੋਪੋਜ਼ੀਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਭਾਵਿਕਾ ਗਰਗ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਕਾ ਧਾਲੀਵਾਲ ਨੇ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਵਿਤਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਨਿਆ ਕੋਹਲੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਉਪਰ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਸਿਮਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੂਜੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਰਹੇ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰਾਂ੍ਹ ਸਕੈਚ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰਸ਼ਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਸਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦਾ ਸਰਵਰਕ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਵਿਕਾ ਗਰਗ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਰਹੀ। ਸੁੰਦਰ ਲਿਖਾਈ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਰਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਦਕਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੀਪਾਲੀ ਨੇ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ।ਸਟੇਜ ਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਕਿਰਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੈਰੁਸ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਦਕਿ ਲੋਵਿਸ਼ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੰਬਰ ਤੇ ਰਿਹਾ।ਗੀਤ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਨਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਰਾਣੀ, ਨੈਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਤਿਕਾ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਰਹੀ ਜਦਕਿ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਪੀਚ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਗਰਿਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।ਨੂਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ/ਕਿਤਾਬ ਰਿਵਿਊ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪੁਜ਼ੀਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਤੇ ਇਨਾਮ ਵੀ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
