A Six-Day Workshop on English Pronunciation and Public Speaking Skills by Department of English concludes at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala

The Department of English at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, successfully conducted a six-day workshop on English Pronunciation and Public Speaking Skills from September 15th, 2025 to 20th, 2025. Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal, this initiative was specially designed for first-year students across various disciplines, including Commerce, Management, Science, and Arts to refine their skills in pronunciation and public speaking. The Vice- Principal Dr. Rajeev Sharma attended the concluding ceremony of the workshop and awarded the certificates to the participants.
Dr. Rajeev Sharma congratulated the English Department and the participants and said that English is the language of global communications and networking. He motivated the students to be proficient in English for better job opportunities and mastering life skills.
The workshop commenced with a session on English Pronunciation Skills, led by Dr. Vaneet Kaur, Head of the Department. She introduced students to the fundamentals of phonetics and the International Phonetic Alphabet, emphasizing their significance in achieving clarity and correctness in speech. Subsequent sessions included rigorous practice exercises conducted by Ravinder Singh, focusing on articulation and fluency.
On the third day, Dr. Harleen Kaur led a session on the Art of Storytelling, inspiring students to appreciate the transformative power of narratives. The fourth day featured Dr. ManinderKaur, who introduced techniques for effective Group Discussions through interactive sessions on thought-provoking topics.
The fifth day was dedicated to Interview Skills, facilitated by Prof. GaganpreetKaur, who provided valuable insights into interview preparation and conducted a mock interview to demonstrate best practices.
Dr. Vaneet Kaur, Head of English Department told that total 250 students were registered for this workshop The event aimed to enhance students’ communicative competence and build their confidence in expressing themselves in academic, professional, and social contexts.
During the feedback session students Shuani Dhawan and Devansh from BA part I appreciated the workshop and said that this six-day academic endeavor proved to be a fruitful experience, enhancing our skills and instilling confidence.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Harleen Kaur, Assistant professor, Department of English. In the valedictory session Dr Kuldeep Kaur, Prof Harpreet Kaur, Prof Sukhpal Sharma and Prof. Anita were also present.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ 15 ਸਤੰਬਰ, 2025 ਤੋਂ 20 ਸਤੰਬਰ, 2025 ਤੱਕ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਬਿਲਕ ਸਪੀਕਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ‘ਤੇ ਛੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਸਫਲਤਾਪੂਰਵਕ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ, ਇਹ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਮਰਸ, ਸਾਇੰਸ ਤੇ ਆਰਟਸ ਸਮੇਤ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਬਿਲਕ ਸਪੀਕਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਖਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਿਆਪੀ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਪੁੰਨ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਹੁਨਰ ‘ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਧੁਨੀ ਵਿਿਗਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਧੁਨੀ ਵਰਣਮਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੇ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਲਿਖਣ-ਪੜਣ ਦੇ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਵਧਾਉਣ ‘ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਨ।
ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਦਿਨ, ਡਾ. ਹਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕਲਾ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਮਿਸਾਲ ਪਾਵਰ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਚੌਥੇ ਦਿਨ ਡਾ. ਮਨਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਿਸ਼ਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਇੰਟਰਐਕਟਿਵ ਸੈਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਚਰਚਾ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਪੰਜਵਾਂ ਦਿਨ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਨੁਕਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗਗਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਲਈ ਮਹਤੱਵਪੂਰਣ ਨੁਕਤੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਯੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੌਕ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਦਾ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਲਈ ਕੁੱਲ 250 ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਰਜਿਸਟਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ, ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੰਦਰਭਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ।
ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਲਈ, ਸੈਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਔਨਲਾਈਨ ਟੈਸਟ ਵੀ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਬਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ।
ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਡਾ. ਹਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਫੀਡਬੈਕ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬੀ.ਏ. ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਸੁਹਾਨੀ ਧਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਾਂਸ਼ ਨੇ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਛੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਯਤਨ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋਇਆ।ਇਸ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਈ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਬਲਿਕ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਲਿਖਣ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡਾ.ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਜਨਸੰਚਾਰ ਤੇ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਫਰੈਂਚ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਅਨੀਤਾ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਸਨ।
