Modi College organized an industrial visit to Verka Milk Plant for students of BCom

The PG Department of Commerce, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized an industrial visit to the well-renowned Verka Milk Plant, Patiala, for BCom 1st-year students on February 15, 2025. Fifty students were selected by the college for this educational visit.
The visit was motivated and supported by the college’s principal, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, who emphasized the importance of practical learning and encouraged the students to actively participate in such initiatives. Under the able guidance of the Head of the Department, Prof. Neena Sareen, the visit was meticulously organized and managed, ensuring a smooth learning experience.

Upon arrival, students were welcomed by the plant manager, who provided an insightful overview of the manufacturing process and the latest technologies used in production. The students were taken through the assembly line, where they observed the manufacturing and packaging of milk and flavored milk. The processing technology, value addition techniques, and quality standards implemented during production were explained in detail, allowing students to gain practical knowledge about the industry.

Additionally, the Marketing and Sales Manager elaborated on the company’s marketing strategies, including sales methods, pricing mechanisms, competition. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students’ queries were addressed effectively. The cooperative staff and well-structured visit made the experience highly informative and enriching.

The visit was supervised by three faculty members: Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Prof. Paramjit Kaur and Dr. Bhushan Chawla, who ensured the student’s safety and discipline throughout the visit. They provided necessary guidance, clarified doubts, and facilitated a smooth learning experience at the plant.

Students highly appreciated the infrastructure, processing unit, and factory operations, which provided them with valuable insights into modern industrial practices. They also commended the hospitality and safety measures implemented at the plant. The visit was recognized as a valuable initiative that enhanced their practical and professional understanding of the field.

Students gained firsthand exposure to the entire manufacturing process, including processing, value addition, marketing strategies, and quality standards. The visit helped students learn about the importance of cleanliness, disease prevention, and quality control measures in ensuring safe and high-quality dairy products. It allowed students to explore various career paths within the dairy industry, including roles in agriculture, food technology, and business management.
