Under the aegis of the Educational Excursion scheme, the Department of History, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala (Pb.), organized an academic visit on 27 February 2026 to an exhibition on Sikh History titled “Sikh Empire (1710–1849): Perspectives of International Artists and Authors.” The exhibition, curated by the Panjab Digital Library in collaboration with the Punjab State Archives Department, is being held at Banasar Ghar, Sheesh Mahal, Patiala, from February 21 to March 2, 2026. A total of 20 students from B.A. (I, II & III) History, accompanied by Dr. Virpal Kaur from the Department of History and Professor Sukhwinder Singh from the Department of Political Science, participated in this educational visit. The exhibition provided rich insights into the Sikh Empire through rare archival materials, including original documents, paintings, portraits, Khalsa Darbar records, Toshakhana (treasury) records, a detailed map of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s kingdom, and a significant letter from Maharaja Duleep Singh regarding his reconversion to Sikhism. It highlighted the Sikh Empire from the perspectives of international artists and authors, offering a unique global outlook on the era. Notably, many of these archival materials have not been publicly displayed for nearly two decades, making the experience even more enriching. The students showed great interest and appreciation for the visual and documentary representation of Punjab’s history.
The Principal of the college, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, encouraged students to actively participate in such academic excursions and archival explorations to deepen their understanding of their cultural roots and broaden their intellectual horizons.
ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਅਧੀਨ 27 ਫਰਵਰੀ, 2026 ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ “ਸਿੱਖ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ (1710–1849): ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਕਲਾਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ” ਦੇ ਦੌਰੇ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਡਿਜੀਟਲ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਪੁਰਾਲੇਖ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬਨਾਸਰ ਘਰ, ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਮਹਿਲ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ 21 ਫਰਵਰੀ ਤੋਂ 2 ਮਾਰਚ, 2026 ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀ.ਏ. (I, II ਅਤੇ III) ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ 20 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਡਾ. ਵੀਰਪਾਲ ਕੌਰ, ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਸੁਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਦੁਰਲੱਭ ਪੁਰਾਲੇਖ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੂਲ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼, ਪੇਂਟਿੰਗਾਂ, ਪੋਰਟਰੇਟ, ਖਾਲਸਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਦੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ, ਤੋਸ਼ਾਖਾਨਾ (ਖਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਦੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ, ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਵਿਸਤ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਕਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਦਲੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੜ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਪੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਕਲਾਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਯੁੱਗ ਬਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਵਿਆਪੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਗਈ ਕਈ ਪੁਰਾਲੇਖ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਲਗਭਗ ਦੋ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਨਤਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੱਤਰਾਤਮਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਰੁਚੀ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਯਾਤਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਰਾਲੇਖ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤਿਕ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਮਝ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਸਤ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ।
