The Martyrdom of Bhagat Singh and his friends come alive on the stage with Play ‘Chhippan Toh Pehla’

The Department of Theater and Film Production, Punjabi University, Patiala in collaboration with Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today enacted a play ‘Chhippan toh pehla’ written by play writer Devinder Daman and based on the revolutionary ideas and life of Bhagat Singh and his friends, dedicated to their glorious martyrdom in the freedom struggle of India. The play was produced and directed by Prof. Kapil Dev Sharma and Prof Gurvinder Singh under the guidance of College Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal. The chief guest in event was Dr. Arvind, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala. The play was enacted at Kala Bhavan, Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Harjeet Singh, Head, Department of Theater and Film Production, Punjabi University was also present in this event.
Dr. Arvind while remembering the legacy of Bhagat Singh and his friends said that we need to learn from the life of Bhagat Singh who was not only a curious thinker and intellectual but also a dreamer. He and his friends fought against the most powerful regime of the world for independence and sovereignty of India
Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala in his address emphasized upon the role of youth in Indian freedom struggle and said that our students are our future nation builders
The play ‘Chippan toh pehla’ is based on an emotional and extraordinary relationship between Bhagat Singh and a cook in the prison. The play depicts the moral values and ethos of the freedom fighters during their struggle against British government
In the main lead and supporting characters the students of Modi college Kamaldeep Singh, Kashish, Satveer Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Gurwinder Singh, M. Akbar, Krishnam, Kamal Badalgarh, Lakash Sharma, Vishnu and Rahul played their roles per excellence.
Prof. Neena Sareen, Dean, Co-curricular Activities of the college, Dr. Rajeev Sharma, NSS Programme Officer and all the staff member of Punjabi Department of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala were also present on this occasion.

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਲਮ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਟਕਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਲੇਖਕ ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਦਮਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਇਨਕਲਾਬੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਨਾਟਕ ‘ਛਿੱਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ’ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਨਾਟਕ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਰੇਖ ਹੇਠ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਇਸ ਨਾਟਕ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਕਪਿਲ ਦੇਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗੁਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਡਾ. ਅਰਵਿੰਦ, ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ। ਇਹ ਨਾਟਕ ਕਲਾ ਭਵਨ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਖੇਡਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਲਮ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਹਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
ਡਾ. ਅਰਵਿੰਦ ਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਇੱਕ ਉਤਸੁਕ ਚਿੰਤਕ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਧੀਜੀਵੀ ਸਨ ਸਗੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਸੱਤਾ ਲਈ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਾਈ ਲੜੀ।
ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ, ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ, ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਟਕ ‘ਛਿੱਪਣ ਤੋ ਪਹਿਲਾ’ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਰਸੋਈਏ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਜ਼ਬਾਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਨਾਟਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਘੁਲਾਟੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੈਤਿਕ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ-ਭਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੁੱਖ ਲੀਡ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਕਿਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਕਮਲਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ, ਕਸ਼ਿਸ਼, ਸਤਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰਭਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਗੁਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਐਮ. ਅਕਬਰ, ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਮ, ਕਮਲ ਬਾਦਲਗੜ੍ਹ, ਲਕਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ ਸਹਿਪਾਠਾਂਤਰ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਡਾ. ਨੀਨਾ ਸਰੀਨ, ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।
