Seminar on Entrepreneurship in Chemistry

The PG Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with IQAC and the Innovation Cell of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, under able guidance of Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal organized a one-day seminar on Entrepreneurship in Chemistry on March 21, 2025. The session was conducted by Dr. Rawel Singh, Scientist-D at the Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bio-Energy, Kapurthala.

Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal welcomed the resource person, while Dr. Rajeev Sharma Head Department of chemistry introduced the resource person to the audience. More than 100 students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. were present in the lecture. Dr. Singh provided valuable insights into entrepreneurial, career, and research opportunities for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students studying chemistry as a major or minor subject. He emphasized the growing potential of start-ups in chemistry, particularly in areas like bio-energy, green chemistry, and sustainable materials. He encouraged students to think beyond conventional career paths and explore innovation-driven enterprises. He also highlighted career prospects in industrial research, government projects, and private-sector roles, focusing on renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and material science. The seminar also covered R&D opportunities, where Dr. Singh discussed industry collaborations, funding options, and government initiatives supporting scientific advancements. He urged students and teachers to actively participate in research and technological development to create real-world solutions.

The session concluded with an interactive question answer session where students engaged enthusiastically, seeking guidance on entrepreneurship and career growth. The stage was conducted by Dr Gaganpreet Kaur. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Coordinator IQAC. The seminar proved to be highly beneficial, inspiring students to explore business, research, and industry-oriented career paths in chemistry. Dr. Harjinder Singh made special efforts to make this seminar a grand success. Dr. Anupama Parmar, Dr. Nidhi Rani Gupta, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar and Dr. Ruhi Mehta were present on the occasion.
