Educational Visit to Chaudhary Devi Lal Herbal Nature Park

The Department of Botany of the College organized a one-day educational visit to Chaudhary Devi Lal Herbal Nature Park, Yamunanagar, on February 20, 2026 with the objective of providing students practical exposure to medicinal and aromatic plants. The visit was conducted under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal who has consistently emphasized the importance of experiential and field-based learning as an essential component of holistic education.
The programme also received valuable encouragement and support from Dean, Life Sciences and Co-ordinator DBT- Star College Scheme, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, whose academic insight and continuous motivation strengthened the spirit of research-oriented learning within the department.
The initiative was undertaken under the able guidance of Dr. Santosh Bala, Head, Department of Botany whose academic foresight, meticulous planning, and dedication ensured the successful organization of the visit.
The tour was led by Dr. Akshita Dhaliwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany who played a pivotal role in guiding and accompanying the students throughout the visit, ensuring that the tour remained both educational and well-organized.
The programme was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Maninder, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany whose systematic planning and exceptional organizational skills ensured the smooth execution of all arrangements. During the visit, students explored various sections of the herbal park, which houses a rich collection of medicinal, rare, and endangered plant species. The park authorities provided detailed information regarding the identification, botanical characteristics, medicinal properties, and cultivation practices of significant plants such as Shatavari, Shikakai, Rudraksh, Ashwagandha, Aloe Vera, Neem etc. Students were also sensitized to the importance of biodiversity conservation and the sustainable utilization of herbal resources, thereby deepening their appreciation of India’s rich herbal heritage.

The visit proved to be highly informative and academically enriching. It strengthened students’ understanding of medicinal botany and enhanced their practical knowledge beyond classroom learning. Overall, the educational tour was a remarkable success in promoting environmental awareness and experiential learning.
