7-DAY FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM CONCLUDED AT M M MODI COLLEGE, PATIALA
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, organized UGC sponsored, 7-Day Faculty Development Program, under the theme of ‘ACADEMIC WRITING; FROM CRITICAL APPRECIATION TO PUBLICATION’ from 9-16 January 2017. Prof Rakesh Mohan Sharma, Additional Dean Research, Punjabi University, Patiala presided over the Valedictory Function. He stressed on the need of research for initiating the qualitative changes in the country.
During the week long FDP, resource persons of repute, from different universities interacted with the faculty members. Dr Jaspreet Mander, Head, Department of English, Punjabi University, Patiala talked in detail about the academic writing with special reference to research in languages and social sciences. Dr Jayanti Dutta, Deputy Director, HR Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh discussed the role of Critical Thinking for effective academic writing. Prof Ashwani Bhalla, SCD Govt College, Ludhiana, spoke about the adverse impact of plagiarism on the quality of research. Prof DP Singh, Prof. and Head, Department of Social Works, Punjabi University, Patiala talked about the urgency of Teaching with Sensitivity.
Principal Dr Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the resource persons and guests. He also talked about the role of research in making the faculty more competent which will certainly translate in to better delivery of the teachers in the class.
Prof Nirmal Singh, Convener IQAC, thanked the speakers and stressed on the need of making the research more of fundamental nature with the inherent potentialities of making contribution to the academic body of knowledge.
Mementos were presented to the guests in the presence of IQAC members Prof Poonam Malhotra , Prof Sharwan Kumar, Prof Shailendra Sidhu, Dr Ashwani Kumar, Dr Sanjay Kumar, Prof Ganesh Sethi and DrDeepika Jindal.

ਸਥਾਨਕਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਇੰਟਰਨਲ ਕੁਆਲਿਟੀ ਐਸ਼ੋਰੈਂਸ ਸੈੱਲ (IQAC) ਵੱਲੋਂ, UGC ਸਪਾਂਸਰਡ, 9-16 ਜਨਵਰੀ 2017 ਦੌਰਾਨ’ACADEMIC WRITING: FROM CRITICAL APPRECIATION TO PUBLICATION’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਡਿਵੈਲਪਮੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਰਿਸਰਚ ਦੇ ਵਧੀਕ ਡੀਨ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਰਕੇਸ਼ ਮੋਹਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਤੇ ਜੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਚਾਰੂ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ ਲਿਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਖੋਜ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਨਣਾ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਫਤਾ ਭਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਉੱਚ ਕੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਮੁਖੀ, ਡਾ. ਜਸਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਮੰਡੇਰ ਨੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਖੋਜ-ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇHRਸੈਂਟਰ ਦੇ ਵਧੀਕ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ, ਡਾ. ਜੈਅੰਤੀ ਦੱਤਾ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਲਿਖਣੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਸੋਚਣੀ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ। SCD ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਅਸ਼ਵਨੀ ਭੱਲਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੁਢਲੇ ਸਰੋਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨਕਲ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਉੱਚੇ ਪੱਧਰ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਡੀ ਪੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਤਾਕੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਨ ਲਈ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਹੋਣਾ ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਖੋਜ ਨਾਲ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
IQACਦੇ ਕਨਵੀਨਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮੌਲਿਕ ਖੋਜ ਵੱਲ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
