The Social Sciences Department and Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Multani Mal Modi College, today organized a seminar on “Deshhit ate Naujawan Peedhi” (National Interest and the Young Generation) in academic collaboration with the Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS) alongside the institution’s NCC and NSS wings. The seminar aimed to foster deep civic awareness and active social responsibility among the student body. The event served as a collaborative platform bringing together prominent administrative figures, social activists, and youth leaders to deliberate on national security and youth-led development.
In his introductory remarks, Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal highlighted the college’s dedication to holistic student growth. He emphasized that instilling strong civic values, national security awareness, and social responsibility in students is vital to building a conscious, proactive generation capable of driving meaningful societal progress.
The resource persons Mr. Vikkramaditya Singh, General Secretary (Organization) of FANS; Dr. Pawan Singla, Former Information Commissioner of Punjab; and Shri Mandeep Aggarwal, Eminent Social Activist, emphasized the crucial role played by higher educational institutions in instilling constitutional values and civic leadership within the younger generation.
In his address, Mr. Vikkramaditya Singh highlighted the pivotal role of Generation Z in driving India’s socio-economic progress, framing the nation’s youth as its central demographic advantage. He underscored that youth participation must extend beyond theoretical understanding into active engagement with core sectors such as agriculture, economic sustainability, and community service. Mr. Singh urged students to align their personal career ambitions with broader national growth objectives.
The seminar addressed critical social issues, highlighting key challenges in Punjab and across India. Speakers brought attention to pressing socio-economic concerns, including the high rate of landlessness in Punjab reported at 73% as well as educational dropout rates among adolescent girls and the challenges surrounding seasonal homelessness. These discussions underscored the necessity for informed youth action and policy-driven solutions to build equitable social structures.
The stage was conducted by Dr. Harshdeep Kaur and the vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Jagdeep Kaur. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Coordinator IQAC, Lt. (Dr) Rohit Sachdeva, Dean Academics, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Devinder Singh, Dr. Amandeep Kaur and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur also attended the programme.
The event concluded with an interactive session, during which students, NCC cadets, and NSS volunteers engaged directly with the panel on matters of human rights and social justice. To bridge academic learning with practical impact, FANS formally invited research paper contributions from attending students, while all the members of the Social Science Department reaffirmed their commitment to empowering young scholars to actively contribute to the nation’s holistic development.

ਸਥਾਨਿਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਟਰਨਲ ਕੁਆਲਿਟੀ ਇੰਨਸ਼ੋਰਸ ਸੈੱਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ “ਦੇਸ਼ਹਿੱਤ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ” ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਅਹਿਮ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾਦਾਇਕ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੈਮੀਨਾਰ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਥਾ ‘ਫੋਰਮ ਫਾਰ ਅਵੇਅਰਨੈੱਸ ਆਫ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਸਕਿਓਰਿਟੀ’ (ਐਫ.ਏ.ਐਨ.ਐੱਸ) ਦੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਐਨ.ਐੱਸ.ਐੱਸ. ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਇਸ ਸੈਮੀਨਾਰ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨਿਕ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤਾਂ, ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਚਿੰਤਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਮੰਚ ‘ਤੇ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫਲ ਰਿਹਾ।
ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਰਸਮੀ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿੱਘਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚ ਨੈਤਿਕ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ, ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਰਬਪੱਖੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾ ਸਕਣ।
ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਐਫ.ਏ.ਅੇਨ.ਐੱਸ ਦੇ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਵਿਕਰਮਾਦਿਤਿਆ ਸਿੰਘ,ਸਾਬਕਾ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਡਾ. ਪਵਨ ਸਿੰਗਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਘੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਮੰਦੀਪ ਅਗਰਵਾਲ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਵਕਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਉੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਅਦਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮੁੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਵਿਕਰਮਾਦਿਤਿਆ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ (ਜ਼ੈੱਨ.ਜੀ) ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਹੈ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕਿਤਾਬੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਤ ਨਾ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ, ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਥਿਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਰਗੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਟੀਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇਣ।
ਸੈਮੀਨਾਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਵਕਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ 73% ਭੂਮੀਹੀਣ ਵਰਗ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ, ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਵਿੱਚਾਲੇ ਛੁੱਟਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਸਮੀ ਬੇਘਰੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਅਹਿਮ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ ਲਈ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਨੀਤੀਗਤ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੀਤੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਟੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਡਾ.ਹਰਸ਼ਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਵਾਈਸ.ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਸੰਜੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ, ਆਈ.ਕਿਉ.ਏ.ਸੀ., ਲੈਫਟੀਨੈਂਟ (ਡਾ.) ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ (ਡੀਨ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ) ਡਾ. ਸੰਜੀਵ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਾ: ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਾ: ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ: ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ, ਐੱਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਐੱਨ.ਐੱਸ.ਐੱਸ ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੈਡਿਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਕਤਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਵਾਲ-ਜਵਾਬ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਐੱਫ.ਏ.ਐਨ.ਐੱਸ’ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਟਰਨਲ ਕੁਆਲਿਟੀ ਇੰਨਸ਼ੋਰਸ ਸੈੱਲ ਨੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਣ ਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਨਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਵ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਟਰਨਲ ਕੁਆਲਿਟੀ ਇੰਨਸ਼ੋਰਸ ਸੈੱਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਸਨ।
