First Cleanliness Drive of Phase-II of Mission Clean Patiala Held at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala

The Eco Club of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, in collaboration with the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), District Administration and Municipal Corporation Patiala, organized the cleanliness drive of Phase-II of “Mission Clean Patiala” in the adjoining area of the college. This was the fourth cleanliness drive organized by the college since the launch of the Mission Clean Patiala campaign, reaffirming its continued commitment towards a cleaner and greener Patiala.Addressing the participants, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal of the College, appreciated the continued efforts of the students, teacher in-charges and collaborating agencies under Mission Clean Patiala. He emphasized that cleanliness requires sustained public participation, responsible waste disposal and environmentally conscious behaviour. He urged students to become ambassadors of cleanliness and inspire others in the community to adopt sustainable practices.
The Eco Club of the college, under the leadership of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, In-charge, Eco Club and Supervisor, Mission Clean Patiala, and Dr. Manish Sharma, led the programme and coordinated the participation of students, faculty members and collaborating agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of the cleanliness drive.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation of students and volunteers under the guidance of Lt. Dr. Rohit Sachdeva, ANO NCC Army Wing (Boys); Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dean (Research), Dr. Heena Sachdeva, Youth Red Cross In-charge, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, NSS In-charges. The cleanliness activity covered the stretch from the college gate towards Budha Dal Public School Chowk, with municipal sanitation workers and college volunteers working together to clean the area.
Officials of the Punjab Pollution Control Board sensitized the participants about responsible waste management, waste segregation, reduction of plastic use and the importance of preventing littering in public places. S. Gurkaran Singh, Executive Engineer, PPCB, and Sh. Dhruv Suri, Senior Good Governance Fellow, interacted with the participants and highlighted the importance of sustained community participation in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment. They appreciated the sustained involvement of the college in Mission Clean Patiala and encouraged students to take the message of cleanliness beyond the campus.
Officials and sanitation staff of Municipal Corporation Patiala, including S. Inderjeet Singh, Sanitary Inspector, and Sh. Manish Daroga, actively supported the drive and worked alongside the students.
The successful completion of the drive marked the beginning of Phase-II of Mission Clean Patiala at College and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to sustained environmental action, community participation and civic responsibility. The college will continue to organize such initiatives to promote cleanliness, responsible waste management and environmental sustainability among students and the wider community.
