Report on Cleanliness Drive under Mission Clean Patiala
The Eco Club of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized a cleanliness drive in collaboration with the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and the District Administration under the “Mission Clean Patiala” initiative launched by PPCB.
The drive witnessed active participation from volunteers of NSS, Youth Red Cross, and NCC, along with college students. The cleanliness campaign commenced from the college gate and continued up to Budha Dal Public School Chowk, covering a significant stretch of the locality. Municipal Corporation officials, sanitation workers, and volunteers worked collectively to ensure effective cleaning of the area.
Dr Neeraj Goyal, Principal of the college addressed the gathering and emphasized that cleanliness is a continuous responsibility and an essential part of a healthy and sustainable society. He highlighted the importance of individual and collective efforts in maintaining hygiene and urged students to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives. He also appreciated the collaborative spirit of various departments and agencies in making the initiative successful.
Officials from the Punjab Pollution Control Board delivered insightful messages during the event. Sh. Dhruv Suri emphasized the need for proper waste management and awareness regarding environmental pollution, while Dr Gurshagan Kandhola highlighted the role of youth in promoting sustainable practices such as waste segregation and reduction of plastic usage. Both officials appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to act as responsible citizens.
Dr Kuldeep Kumar, Supervisor of the college for Mission Clean Patiala, played a key role in coordinating the activity. The activity was further supported by the presence of Dr Varun Jain, Dr Manish Sharma and Dr Heena Sachdeva, In Charge, college Youth Red Cross. Dr. Nidhi Rani Gupta, ANO of NCC Girls Unit, encouraged the students to actively participate in the drive.
S. Inderjeet Singh, Sanitary Inspector, Sh. Kuldeep Ratta, and Sh. Manish Daroga, from Municipal Corporation Patiala, motivated the students and contributed to the successful execution of the activity.
Traffic police and other police personnel provided valuable support by managing traffic and ensuring the safety of participants during the drive. S. Puneet Singh Chahal, DSP, Punjab Police, extended support by deputing traffic personnel for traffic control, which contributed to the smooth conduct of the activity.
The drive proved to be a meaningful step towards promoting awareness about cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and community responsibility among students and the general public.
