Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organizes play “Saaya” and poetic recitation in remembrance of Martyrdom of Bhagat Singh and the World Theatre Day

The Post-Graduate Punjabi Department of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, under the guidance of Dr. Veerpal Kaur, successfully presented a special theatre performance of the play “Saaya” today. The event commemorated the martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh and World Theatre Day. The event saw enthusiastic participation and appreciation from the students, highlighting the importance of theatre in promoting cultural awareness and values.
College principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal appreciated the poetic and theatrical tribute to the freedom fighters and said that we must work hard to fulfill the dreams of our freedom fighters. He said that we believe in the transformative power of art, literature, and theatre in education. ‘Saaya’ was a testament to the vibrant cultural traditions of Punjab and an opportunity for students to engage with meaningful narratives. He encouraged the students to embrace such events as they foster creativity, empathy, and critical thinking essential skills for holistic development.
The play “Saaya” was a powerful theatrical production written, directed and enacted by Dr.Kapil Sharma and Prof. Gurwinder Singh under supervision of Dr. Davinder Singh, exploring themes of good and evil in human life.. The event celebrated Punjabi literature and theatre arts, showcasing the talents students.
In the event students from different streams Mukesh Kumar, Rubandeep Kaur,Gurjant Singh,Sarvan Singh, Tanu Sharma and Harpreet Kaur presented their poems and writings.
The stage was conducted by Dr. Deepak Kumar who congratulated the students for their creative and constructive poetry. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Devinder Singh.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ-ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗਠਿਤ ‘ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਭਾ’ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਰੰਗਮੰਚ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਰੁਚੀਆਂ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ 18 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਟਕ’ ਸਾਇਆ’ ਦਾ ਮੰਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਸਮੇਤ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਕਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁਚੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਣ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੁਰੀਤੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹੀਏ। ‘ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਭਾ’ ਵਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਮਾਜ ਦਾ ਦਰਪਣ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਬਦਲਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਆਉਣਾ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਅਫਜ਼ਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਟਕ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਨਾਟਕ ਦੀ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਦੇ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਕਪਿਲ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗੁਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਾਟਕ ‘ਸਾਇਆ’ ਖੇਡਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਨਾਟਕ ਦਾ ਥੀਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਦਰ ਛਿਪੀ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਿਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਸੀ।
ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਚੱਲਿਤ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਮੁਕੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਰੁਬਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਰਵਣ ਸਿੰਘ, ਤਨੂ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ‘ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਭਾ’ ਦੇ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਡਾ. ਦੀਪਕ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਰਮ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਲੇਰੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਲਈ ਉਸਾਰੂ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਟਕ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਲੋਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ, ਗ਼ੈਰ-ਅਧਿਆਪਨ ਅਮਲਾ ਤੇ ਭਰਵੀਂ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
