An Ode to Spring: Malhaar by Social Sciences Department concludes at Modi College

In a tapestry woven with threads of creativity and intellectual vigor, the Department of Social Sciences, Multani Mal Modi College precedes for the conclusion of its beautiful program ‘Malhaar’ today. This three-day celebration, a tribute to the enchanting season of Indian spring, unfurled before the eyes of participants a plethora of captivating activities, spirited games, and innovative pedagogical methodologies, all designed to engage the mind and inspire the soul.

College principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal inaugurated the festival with the sacred lighting of the lamp of wisdom. In his address, he discussed the virtues of Malhaar as a bastion for showcasing the boundless potential and creative talents of the students.

During Malhaar, an extension lecture on the topic of ‘Youth and Mental Health’ delivered by Prof. Rajesh Gill, former Professor and Chairperson, Department of Sociology and Department for Women’s Studies and Development, Punjab University, Chandigarh. In her address she discussed the theme of inter relation between Youth and Mental Health and told that Mental health is one of the prominent issue globally according to world health Organization

In her special lecture Prof. Ritu Lehal, Dean Research and Professor, School of Applied Management, Punjab University, Chandigarh discussed the theme of ‘Women Empowerment’.

The Department of Social Sciences orchestrated a set of Psychological tests and engaging IQ games, designed by Psychology Department. A special session “Emotional Intelligence Testing” attracted large number of students who were provided scores and guidance for maintaining emotional well-being.

The Social Sciences Department also held a photography competition that beckoned students to explore the intricate nostalgia of ‘Old Markets and Bazaars’ of the Patiala city. In this competition the first position was won by Mohit Babbar, and the second position jointly bagged by Gobind and Khushleen Kaur.

Concurrently, the Poster Making competition revealed an artistic whirlwind, as students skillfully expressed their political viewpoints through striking caricatures and poignant visual commentary on contemporary societal issues like’ Social Media and its impact on consumerism, Social Media and Mental health, India as an emerging social power, film directors of India and climate change: a global threat etc.

First position in the Poster Making was won by Parikalpana Gupta and the second position was shared among Navkiran Kaur and Rubaljot Kaur. In Solo Dancing Tripti won the first position and in group dance team of Ishanpreet kaur

On the concluding day the chief guest Mrs. Seema Uppal, Principal, Senior Secondary School, Civil Lines, Patiala joined the Cultural Extravaganza and a prize distribution ceremony. She appreciated the creativity, the talent and the team spirit of the students and faculty members.

The first prize in folk song won by Harpreet Kaur and in Singing Parikalpana stood first. In solo dance Tripti won the first position and in group dance first position won by team of Ishanpreet Kaur, Tarandeep Kaur, Shreya, Arshleen kaur, Khushpreet Kaur and Aishpreet Kaur.

The fashion show by Fashion technology Department of the college showcased innovative and clothing line based on the theme of ‘She rises: from silence to sovereignty ‘in which the designs depicted the women power focusing on the role and contribution of women in social development and nation building.

The vote of thanks was presented by Vice Principal Dr. Jagdeep Kaur.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿੱਖੇ ਅੱਜ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਲਾਤਮਿਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਧਾਗੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਣੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ‘ਮਲਹਾਰ’ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਇਹ ਤਿੰਨ-ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਬਸੰਤ ਦੇ ਮਨਮੋਹਕ ਮੌਸਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸੀ।ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਗਤਿਵਧੀਆਂ, ਕਲਾਤਮਿਕ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਰਾਹੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਿਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਲਾਤਮਿਕ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਨਾਲ ਰੂਬਰੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ: ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਮਲਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਿਕ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਣ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਬਸੰਤ ਉਤਸਵ ਮਲਹਾਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਮੈਨਜ਼ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ ਐਂਡ ਡਿਵੈਲਪਮੈਂਟ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਚੇਅਰਪਰਸਨ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਗਿੱਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਸਿਹਤ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਸਿਹਤ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਅੰਤਰ ਸਬੰਧ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਸਿਹਤ ਸੰਗਠਨ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਸਿਹਤ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ।

ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਰਿਤੂ ਲਹਿਲ, ਡੀਨ ਰਿਸਰਚ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਸਕੂਲ ਆਖ਼ ਅਪਲਾਈਡ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਨੇ ‘ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸਸ਼ਕਤੀਕਰਨ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਟੈਸਟਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਆਈ.ਕਿਊ ਗੇਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ।ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਟਾਫ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।”ਭਾਵਨਾਤਮਕ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ ਟੈਸਟਿੰਗ” ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵਨਾਤਮਕ ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਸਕੋਰ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਲਾਹ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਗਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਫੋਟੋਗ੍ਰਾਫੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਵੀ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਕਿਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਬੱਬਰ ਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਹੋਏ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਮੇਕਿੰਗ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਲਾਤਮਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੇ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ ਦਿੱਤੀ।ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ‘ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ’ ਅਤੇ ਖਪਤਵਾਦ, ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਸਿਕਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਵਰਗੇ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਵਿਅੰਗ ਚਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਵਿਜ਼ੂਅਲ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੁਸ਼ਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਮਲਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਸੀਮਾ ਉੱਪਲ, ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ, ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ, ਸਿਵਲ ਲਾਈਨਜ਼, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਾਮ ਵੰਡ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕਤਾ, ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾ ਅਤੇ ਟੀਮ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਰੰਗਾਰੰਗ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਕਲਾਤਮਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ-ਕਲਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੋਕ-ਧਾਰਾ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਜੀਵੰਤ ਸੰਗਮ ਸੀ।ਲੋਕ- ਗੀਤਾਂ, ਲੋਕ-ਨਾਚਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਨਮੋਹਕ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਮੀਰ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ-ਧਾਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸਨ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਲੋਕ ਗੀਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਇਨਾਮ ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਇਨਾਮ ਪਰੀਕਲਪਨਾ ਨੇ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।ਸੋਲੋ ਡਾਂਸਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਇਨਾਮ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਡਾਂਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਇਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਤਰੁਣਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ,ਸ੍ਰਿਆ, ਅਰਸ਼ਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ,ਖੁਸ਼ਪਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਐਸ਼ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।

ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਫੈਸ਼ਨ ਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਫੈਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੋਅ ‘ ਸ਼ੀ ਰਾਈਜ਼ਿਜ਼: ਫਰਾਮ ਸਾਈਲਿਸ ਟੂੰ ਸੌਵਰਨਿਟੀ’ਦੇ ਥੀਮ ‘ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਤ ਨਵੀਨਤਮ ਫੈਸ਼ਨੇਵਲ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਸਾਏ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸਨ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਵਾਈਸ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ: ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।
