Botany Department Students participated in Two-Day Workshop on Hydroponics
Three students of BSc-I (Medical) from the Department of Botany actively participated in a two-day Skill Enhancement Workshop on “Hydroponics for Sustainable Food Production – A Green Technology for the Future.” The workshop was sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), Government of India.
The program was organized by the Department of Botany and Environmental Sciences at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib on 12-13 February, 2026. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ practical knowledge and technical skills in hydroponics, an innovative and sustainable method of soil-less cultivation.
Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, emphasized on the Importance of Skill-Based Training Programs and their role in student exposure to skill-based training programs in enhancing their academic profiles and career prospects. He stated that participation in such training initiatives not only upgrades students’ biodata but also equips them with practical knowledge, industry-relevant skills, and greater confidence to compete in the professional world. He further encouraged students to actively seek opportunities that contribute to their overall personality development and employability.
Dr. Santosh Bala, Head, Department of Botany, along with faculty members Dr. Akshita Dhaliwal and Dr. Maninder continuously provide necessary platforms and academic support to help students acquire new skills and broaden their knowledge in the field of plant sciences.
The participating students gained valuable insights into modern green technologies and sustainable food production practices, broadening their academic exposure and skill development in emerging agricultural techniques.
