An educational visit to Royal Honey, Jogipur (Chaura Road), Patiala was organized for students of B.Sc. Medical as part of the Skill Enhancement Course in Apiculture. College Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal stated that such field visits are vital for enhancing the practical competence of students and for connecting classroom learning with real-world applications. He emphasized that theoretical knowledge provides the scientific foundation, while field exposure develops observation skills, technical confidence, and professional understanding. He further highlighted that experiential learning enables students to understand processes more effectively and prepares them for future academic and career opportunities.
During the visit, students closely observed honey bee colonies and bee frames and gained hands-on experience by safely handling the frames under expert supervision. They learned about hive structure, bee behavior, colony management, and the process of honey production, which strengthened their conceptual and practical understanding of apiculture.
The tour was led by Dr. Manish Sharma and was planned and coordinated by Dr. Heena Sachdeva under the Skill Enhancement Course in Apiculture. The activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Dean Life Sciences, who stated that such educational tours are essential for developing scientific temperament and skill-based learning among students.
The visit proved to be highly informative and enriching, providing students with valuable practical exposure in the field of beekeeping.
