Multani Mal Modi College Patiala Organizes Special Lecture on Female Health Care
Patiala, February 5, 2026:
The NSS Unit of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized a special lecture on “Female Health Care – Awareness and Prevention of Cancer in Women” at the college auditorium. The event was conducted with the objective of spreading awareness among young girls about cancer prevention, early diagnosis and healthy lifestyle practices.
The resource person for the programme was Dr. Raja Paramjeet Singh Banipal, Professor and Head, Department of Radiation Oncology, Government Medical College, Patiala. Dr. Reenat Virk from the Department of Radiation Oncology also assisted him. Both experts shared valuable medical insights and interacted actively with the students.
Welcoming the guests, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal of Multani Mal Modi College, emphasized the importance of female health care and stated that awareness and timely prevention are key to building a healthy society.
During the lecture, Dr. Raja Paramjeet Singh Banipal highlighted the rising cases of breast cancer among Indian women. He stressed the importance of early detection through screening techniques such as mammography and HPV testing. He also emphasized the role of a balanced diet, regular exercise and avoidance of harmful habits in reducing cancer risk.
Dr. Reenat Virk further addressed women-specific health concerns and encouraged the students to seek timely medical advice without hesitation. After the lecture, Dr. Raja Paramjeet Singh Banipal and Dr. Reenat Virk interacted personally with the girl students, addressing their one-to-one queries and creating an open, supportive environment where students could freely discuss their health concerns and clarify doubts.
The stage proceedings were conducted by NSS Officer Dr. Davinder Singh and the speakers were formally introduced by NSS Officer Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, while Dr. Sanjeev Kumar assisted in organizing the entire event.
Faculty members from the Departments of Commerce, Science and Humanities were present at the event, which was attended by around 150 girl students along with faculty members. The programme proved to be highly informative and empowering, reinforcing the importance of awareness, early screening and preventive care in women’s health. The vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Kushaldeep Kaur, NSS volunteer and student of BA Part-I.
