Multani Mal Modi College Patiala organizes lecture on de-addiction under Punjab Jaagoo Yatra

The NSS and NCC units of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala in collaboration with District administration, Patiala today organized a lecture on de-addiction under the Punjab Jaagoo Yatra initiative currently running in 23 districts of Punjab. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of living a healthy and addiction-free life.
Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Principal of the college in his address emphasized the significance of awareness and understanding the root cause of drug addiction. “It’s crucial to address the issue of addiction with empathy and compassion. Punjab is a land of five rivers and it is unfortunate to witness the sixth river of drugs here. By understanding the underlying reasons, we can work towards creating a supportive environment that fosters recovery and rehabilitation.”
Mr. Paramjeet Singh Aggarwal, a renowned social activist, highlighted the importance of Punjab Jaagoo Yatra in shaping the youth’s perspective on addiction. “Punjab Jaagoo Yatra is a vital initiative that empowers the youth to take charge of their lives and make informed choices. By addressing addiction on a priority basis, we can unlock the potential of our youth and pave the way for a brighter future.”
Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Dr. Devinder Singh and and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, NSS Programme Officers motivated the students to say ‘ No to drugs and YES to life’. They emphasized the importance of staying away from substance abuse and focusing on personal growth and development.
Lt. (Dr.) Rohit Sachdeva, NCC Officer, emphasized the need for adopting healthy life choices and creating a drug-free society for all. “As young individuals, it’s essential to make informed decisions about our lives and prioritize our well-being.
The students actively participated in the discussion after the lecture sharing their thoughts and insights on the topic. The lecture highlighted the devastating effects of substance abuse on individuals, families, and society as a whole.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanjeev Sharma. The stage was conducted by Dr. Devinder Singh.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ ਅਤੇ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ 23 ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਜਾਗੋ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਕਤ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਹਤਮੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਕਤ ਜੀਵਨ ਜਿਊਣ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ “ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੱਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੰਜ ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਦਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਮੰਦਭਾਗਾ ਹੈ।ਅਸੀਂ ਮੂਲ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਹਤਮੰਦ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਨਰਵਾਸ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਕਾਰਕੁਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਗਰਵਾਲ ਨੇ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਾਗੋ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ। “ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਾਗੋ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਉਠਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਹੀ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਕੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੁੰਗਾਰਾ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫਸਰਾਂ ਡਾ. ਸੰਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ‘ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਂਹ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਂ’ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ‘ਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਲੈਫਟੀਨੈਂਟ (ਡਾ.) ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ, ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਅਫਸਰ, ਨੇ ਸਿਹਤਮੰਦ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਕਲਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਨਸ਼ਾ-ਮੁਕਤ ਸਮਾਜ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। “ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇਣਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।”
ਲੈਕਚਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ। ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ, ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਸਮਾਜ ‘ਤੇ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੁਰਵਰਤੋਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਡਾ. ਸੰਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਦੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਮਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ। ਸਟੇਜ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ।
