National Science Day Based on theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat” celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, a college with DBT star status, today celebrated National Science Day to remember Nobel Prize winner Indian Physicist Dr. C.V. Raman. This year’s theme, “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for VIKSIT BHARAT,” emphasizes the crucial role of young minds in shaping India’s future as a global leader in science and technology.
The chief guest in this event was Prof. Surindra Lal, member of Management Committee. The event was inaugurated with lighting the lamp and floral felicitation of the dignitaries. College Principal, Dr. Neeraj Goyal welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries and the participating students. He said that Science provides innovative solutions, enhances convenience, and drives economic growth. From smartphones to medical advancements the scientific progress ensures a better, more sustainable future. He said that Modi College is committed for development of scientific temperament and observational skills among the students. Chief guest of the programme Prof Surindra Lal, Member, Managing Committee appreciated the faculty of sciences for organizing an innovative and learning platform for the students.
Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Dean, Physical Sciences discussed the objectives and thrust areas of the event and informed that more than 170 students of the college from participating in various competitions. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dean Research, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Dean Life Sciences, Dr. Varun Jain, Head Department of Mathematics motivated the students to participate with enthusiasm and zeal.
On this day dedicated to Science, Modi College also felicitated twenty-seven distinguished Principals and educators of science and presented them appreciation awards to mark their achievements in their respective fields and for their contributions to the society.
To mark the Science Day various competitions and events were organised. In Science based Quiz competition the first position was won by team of Vishal Sadwal, Pankaj Goyal and Aanchal and second position by Vandana, Paramvir Singh and Bhavi. In Scientific Rangoli making competition the team of Aman Kaur and Ekamjot Kaur stood first and Sanjana and Jatinder Kaur bagged the second position. In the paper reading competition students presented their papers on ‘Advancements in Artificial Intelligence, ‘The Future of Space Exploration’, ‘Nanotechnology in Medicine’, ‘Sustainable agriculture and Food Security’ and ‘Mathematics gears towards Digital Generation’. The first position was won by Noorpreet Kaur, second position by Pallavi Thakkar. In poster presentation the students depicted the themes of ‘Climate change and Renewable Energy Solutions’, ‘Microplastics and their impact’, ‘Genetic Engineering and CRISPR’ and ‘Mathematics, Art and Creativity’. The first position was won by Kashish and the second position by Narvir Kaur and Mansi Garg. In caption contest the first prize was won by Pankaj Goyal and Nandini stood second. In the innovative project ‘Best out of Waste’ competition the first position was won by team of Gaganpreet Kaur and Vanshika, and second position was secured by Noorpreet Kaur, Kashish, Pankaj Goyal and Arvinder Kaur.
The winners of various competitions were presented with certificates and prizes by the chief guest and principal. The stage was conducted by Dr. Bhanvi Wadhawan. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sanjay Kumar. Prof. Chetna Gupta, and Dr. Bhanvi Wadhawan, Dr. Kavita, and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Organising secretaries put special efforts to make this programme successful. The event concluded with the National Anthem. In this event all staff members and students of Faculty of Sciences were present.

ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਥੀਮ “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat” ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਿਤਵ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸੁਰਿੰਦਰ ਲਾਲ, ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ, ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ।
ਕਾਰਜਕ੍ਰਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਦੀਪ ਜਲਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੌਧਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਯਲ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ, ਅਤੀਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਨਵੇਂ ਵਿਕਲਪ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਵਿਧਾਵਾਂ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਸਾਧਨ ਹੈ। ਸਮਾਰਟਫੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਚਿਕਿਤਸਾ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਤਕ, ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਿਕੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਅਵਲੋਕਨਕ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧ ਹੈ।
ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸੁਰਿੰਦਰ ਲਾਲ ਨੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਨਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਣਯੋਗ ਮੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡੀਨ, ਭੌਤਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੇ ਲਕਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ 170 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਡਾ. ਸੰਜੇ ਕੂਮਾਰ (ਡੀਨ ਰਿਸਰਚ), ਡਾ. ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੁਮਾਰ (ਡੀਨ ਲਾਈਫ ਸਾਇੰਸ), ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਵਰੁਣ ਜੈਨ, ਮੁਖੀ (ਮੈਥਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ) ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾਬਿਲਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਦਿਨ ਮੌਕੇ, 27 ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
