Extension Lecture on ‘Banking, Financial Services and Insurance’ organized at Multani Mal Modi College by PG Department of Commerce

The Post-graduate Department of Commerce, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized an extension lecture on the topic, ‘Banking, Financial Services and Insurance’ to equip the Commerce students with the specialized information and skills for exploring the employability opportunities in the ever-expanding areas of the banks, financial firms and insurance companies. This lecture was delivered by Sh. Kanwaljit Singh, lead Trainer, Centre for Investment Education and Learning. The speaker was formally introduced by Dr. (Lt) Rohit Sachdeva, Dean Curriculum and Coordinator of the Certificate course in BFSI. He said that there are numerous jobs in these three key areas of economy and this lecture will explore those opportunities and job prospects for our students
College Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal welcomed the speaker and said BFSI is the umbrella term which stands for various services related to essential sectors of Indian economy such as Banking, Finance and Insurance. He said that technological advancements, regulatory changes, shifts in consumer behavior and market trends shape mark the evolution and growth of this financial term. He motivated the students to develop analytical skills in the fields of risk management, fraud detection, customer experience, data analytics and market trends to succeed in these sectors.
Prof. Neena Sareen, Head, Department of Commerce and Dean, Co-Curricular activities said that Commerce Department is committed for training and skill enhancement of our students in the areas of financial services and insurance markets. She said that such lectures help the students to think out of the box, develop their analytical skills and chalk out their future plans in these key sectors
Sh. Kanwaljit Singh in his presentation and lecture discussed with the students the fundamental concepts of banking, financial services and management. He elaborated upon the functioning of Banking system and financial markets, the need for understanding the behavior of the customers, synergies between needs of the customers and features of the products, the importance of good communication skills for retaining the customers and the role of new technological innovations in defining the contours of these sectors.
An interactive session was held with the students after the lecture.
Prof. Parminder Kaur, Placement officer from the Placement Cell of the college conducted the stage. Dr. Gaurav Gupta presented the vote of thanks.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ-ਗਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਕਾਮਰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਾਮਰਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਦੇਂ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੈਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅੱਜ ‘ਬੈਂਕਿੰਗ, ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਮਾ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇਕ ਐਕਸਟੈਨਸ਼ਨ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ, ਵਿੱਤੀ ਫਰਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਮਾ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ-ਪੂਰਵਕ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਕੰਵਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਮੁੱਖ ਟਰੇਨਰ, ਸੈਂਟਰ ਫਾਰ ਇਨਵੈਸਟਮੈਂਟ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਐਂਡ ਲਰਨਿੰਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਡੀਨ ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਕੋਰਸ ਇੰਨ ਬੀ.ਐਫ.ਐਸ.ਆਈ ਦੇ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਡਾ. (ਲੈਫਟੀਨੈਂਟ) ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਗਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਆਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬੀ.ਐਫ.ਐਸ.ਆਈ ਇੱਕ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਅਰਥਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਬੈਂਕਿੰਗ, ਵਿੱਤ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਤਰੱਕੀ, ਰੈਗੂਲੇਟਰੀ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ, ਖਪਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਕੀਟ ਰੁਝਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਬਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਜੋਖਮ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ, ਧੋਖਾਧੜੀ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਪੱਕ, ਗਾਹਕ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਭਵਾਂ ਨੁੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ, ਡੇਟਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣ ਦੇ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਕੀਟ ਰੁਝਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣਾਤਮਕ ਹੁਨਰ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਡਾ. ਨੀਨਾ ਸਰੀਨ, ਮੁਖੀ, ਕਾਮਰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਡੀਨ, ਸਹਿ-ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਮਰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਬੈਂਕਿੰਗ, ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਮਾ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਤਰਾਸ਼ਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਰਜਸ਼ੀਲ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣ ਹੁਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸ਼੍ਰੀ. ਕੰਵਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੈਂਕਿੰਗ, ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਮਾ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਧਾਰਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੈਂਕਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਕਾਜ, ਗਾਹਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ, ਗਾਹਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਤਾਲਮੇਲ, ਗਾਹਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੋਡਕਟ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਚੰਗੇ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਹੁਨਰ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੈਕਟਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਇਸ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਟਰਐਕਟਿਵ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪਲੇਸਮੈਂਟ ਸੈੱਲ ਦੇ ਪਲੇਸਮੈਂਟ ਅਫਸਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਪਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਡਾ. ਗੌਰਵ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਹੇ।
ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਦੀਪਿਕਾ ਸਿੰਗਲਾ, ਡਾ. ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸੋਨੀਆ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਦੀਕਸ਼ਾ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮਨਜੋਤ ਕੌਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਹਰਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੌਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਭੂਸ਼ਨ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ੈਫਾਲੀ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮਨਦੀਪ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਦਲਜੀਤ, ਸਮੂਹ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਅਤੇ 150 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
