The Department of Computer Science of Multani Mal Modi College offers Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor of Vocational in Software Development (B Voc – Software Development), Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), Masters in Information Technology (MSc – IT) and Masters in Information Technology – Lateral Entry (MSc – IT LE).

The Computer Science Department was established in the year 1998 with one unit each of BCA and PGDCA. In 2002, the department was housed in the newly constructed Seth HR Modi Center of Technology with 10 class rooms, 5 computer laboratories, a faculty room, a common room for girls and a full-fledged dedicated departmental library. In the year 2004, along with one additional unit of BCA, one unit of BSc (Computer Science) was also initiated. In 2007, the first Masters Programme in the Department was introduced namely -MSc (Information Technology) followed by MSc (Information Technology –Lateral Entry) in the year 2010. Incidentally, this year also saw a boom in the strength of PGDCA units growing to 4 units. Another Under Graduate course – B Voc (Software Development), under the Skill India Program of UGC was also introduced. Six faculty members of the department are Ph.D. and 17 candidates are pursuing Ph.D. from the Punjabi University, Patiala under their guidance.
