Ten Day Workshop on Lippan Kaam of Gujarat started at Department of Fashion Design and Technology, M M Modi College, Patiala has organized a 10 day workshop on Lippan Kaam – Traditional Mural Art from Kutchh, Gujarat. Inaugurating the workshop, Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar said that such workshops play an important role in the skilling of the students and widening their horizon to appreciate the cultural diversity of our country.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Co-ordinator of the Department told that this beautiful mud and mirror art is an integral part of rural culture of Gujarat. It is an art work most commonly done inside the mud huts located in the desert region of Kutchh. The students of BSc and MSc Fashion Designing got an opportunity to work under the guidance of Prof. Veenu Jain and Prof. Jaspreet Kaur and understand the intricacies of this art form.
All the students of the Department of Fashion Design and Technology participated in the inaugural function.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਫੈਸ਼ਨ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਕੱਛ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਲਿੱਪਣ-ਕੰਮ ਦੀ 10 ਰੋਜਾ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਦਘਾਟਨੀ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ, ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਰਾਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਖਾਰ ਆਉ੍ਵਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਸਕ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਵਿਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਬਲਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਲਿੱਪਣ ਕੰਮ ਗੁਜਰਾਤੀ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਅਨਿੱਖੜਵਾਂ ਅੰਗ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਲਾ ਕੱਛ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਝੌਂਪੜੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਹੈ। ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਅਤੇ ਐਮ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. (ਫੈਸ਼ਨ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ) ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵੀਨੂ ਜੈਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਸਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਕਲਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ।
