M M Modi College Organised Dr. G Chaursia Memorial National Webinar on Teacher Education
Multani Mal Modi College Patiala in collaboration with Council For Teacher Education Foundation (Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter) organized one day online Dr. G Chaursia Memorial National Webinar on the topic of ‘Teacher Education in Post-COVID Era: Some reflections’. This webinar was organized in memory of Dr. G Chaursia, a renowned teacher and educational administrator and was focused on the changing scenario of teacher education and how virtual platforms are transforming the face of education sector. The key-note address was delivered by Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, Vice-chancellor, SNDT Women University, Bombay. In this webinar Prof. Neelima Bhagwati, Prof. Emritous Guwahati University & General Secretary, CTEF ( India), Prof. K. M. Bhatnagar, National President of Council for Teacher Education Foundation and Ex Dean Education , Nagpur University, Dr. Satinder Dhillon , Senator, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. V. Raghu, Ex-Dean and Head education, RGNYDI, Chennai, Dr. Sanjeev Sonawane, Dean Education SBP university Pune, Dr Jasvir kaur Chahal , Former Dean Faculty of Education, Punjab University, Chandigarh were the resource persons.
College principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the key-note speaker and other delegates and said that teacher education is the most important aspect of the digital learning and virtual education and it is time to discuss what challenges, problems and possibilities teachers are going to face in this unprecedented situation. Prof. Shashikala Wanjari in her key-note address elaborated that digital technologies are producing educational managers instead of committed teachers which is harmful for the collective knowledge production for the society. She told that digital companies have fastened the pace of commercialization and privatization of education which is not a good sign for educational sector. Dr Jasvir kaur Chahal discussed the changes and transformation in the field of school education. She told that education is not a ‘Business’ to be put on ‘marketing’ and we as educational administrators should be careful about maintaining the fundamental ethical values of education.
In his address to the delegates Dr. K.M.Bhatnagar elaborated the professional qualities of the teachers and how it affects the process of learning. He said that the professional ethics are of foremost importance for a teacher and it should be maintained even in virtual learning. Dr. Neelima Bhagabati while discussing the policy and trainings of the teachers said that teachers should be acquainted with the daily realities of the life and their training should be more inclusive for all sections of the society. In his lecture Dr. V. Raghu discussed the various policies and reforms in the education sector in the light of changing circumstances and situations. Dr. Satinder Dhillon said that teacher training and learning should be more rigorous and according to the best world educational standards.
The webinar was coordinated by Dr. Yogesh Sharma. A large number of teachers from various educational institutions from more than 12 states of the country participated in this webinar.

ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ-ਵਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਡੈਲੀਗੇਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਡਿਜ਼ੀਟਲ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚੂਅਲ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮਹਤੱਵਪੂਰਣ ਨੁਕਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਚਣੌਤੀਆਂ, ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ਸ਼ੀਕਲਾ ਵਨਜ਼ਰੀ ਨੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਡਿਜ਼ੀਟਲ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਉਤਪਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੂਲ ਰਵਾਇਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਾ-ਪੱਖੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪੈਣ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਡਿਜ਼ੀਟਲ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਜੀਕਰਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਪਾਰੀਕਰਣ ਦਾ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਤੇਜ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ-ਖੇਤਰ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ। ਡਾ. ਜਸਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ ਚਾਹਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਕੂਲੀ-ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਕੋਈ ਵਪਾਰ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੱਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵੇਚ-ਵੱਟ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਨਾ ਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੈਤਿਕ ਨੀਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਡਾ. ਕੇ. ਐੱਮ. ਭਟਨਾਗਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਮੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਮੁੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਨੀਲਿਮਾ ਭਗਵਤੀ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਰਚਾਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਲਾਸ-ਰੂਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸੱਚਾਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੇਠਲੇ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੋਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ.ਵੀ.ਰਘੂ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਡੀਨ ਐਂਡ ਮੁੱਖੀ ਐਂਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ, ਰਾਜੀਵ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੈਂਸ਼ਨਲ ਯੂਥ ਡਿਵੈਲ਼ਪਮੈਂਟ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਊਟ, ਚੇਨਈ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ੳਤੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬਦਲਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇ-ਨਜ਼ਰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ। ਡਾ. ਸਤਿੰਦਰ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਡੀਨ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਪੁਖਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰ{ਰਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ-ਪੱਧਰੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਵੈਬੀਨਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਡਾ. ਯੋਗੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਸੰਚਾਰੂ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ 12 ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ-ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ।
