Two-Day Workshop on LINUX Operating System conducted at M M Modi College, Patiala
Two-day workshop on LINUX Operating System was organized by the PG Dept. of Computer Science of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala. Senior Network Engineer Mr. Anil Kumar from Brill Infosystems Pvt. Ltd. Mohali conducted the workshop. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar inaugurated the workshop and motivated the students to make full use of their time and learn maximum from the subject expert of the workshop. He emphasized the need of industry liaisoning by the educational institutions so that students become aware about the requirements of the industry and prepare well for future assignments.
Dr. Ajit Kumar, convener of the workshop explained the relevance of the event by telling the participants that although the LINUX Operating System is the leading operating system for servers, mainframes, and super computers but it is used by few desktop users. So, there is a dire need to spread awareness about the usage of this system among the student community.
Giving feedback about the workshop Mr. Navneet Singh and Ms. Harsimran Kaur the participants expressed that this workshop was very useful for them. They were able to understand many theoretical concepts as well as getting practical training.
The valedictory session of the workshop was presided over by Dr. Khushvinder Kumar as well as Mr. Rupinder Pal Singh, MD, Brill Infosystems Pvt. Ltd., Mohali. Certificates were awarded to the participants. Prof. Vinay Garg and Prof. Ganesh Kumar Sethi put special efforts in organizing the workshop. Prof. Mrs. Poonam Malhotra, Co-ordinator of the dept. presented the vote of thanks and Prof. Harmohan Sharma conducted the stage during the session.

ਮ ਮ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਖੇ ਲਾਈਨਕਸ ਓਪਰੇਟਿੰਗ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੋ-ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ
ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਲੋਂ ਲਾਈਨਕਸ ਓਪਰੇਟਿੰਗ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੋ-ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਬਰਿਲ ਇਨਫੋਸਿਸਟਮਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਾਈਵੇਟ ਲਿਮਟਿਡ, ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਨੈਟਵਰਕ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਨਿਲ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਨੇ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਉਪਯੋਗ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ-ਮਾਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਿਖਣ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜੋਕੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਦੇ ਆਪਸੀ ਤਾਲਮੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕਿਤਾਬੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਸਮਝਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਕਿੱਤਾ-ਮੁਖੀ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ (ਸਕਿੱਲ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਰੀਆ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪਾਂ ਇਸ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਰਗਰ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੇ ਕਨਵੀਨਰ ਡਾ. ਅਜੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਿਖਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਲਾਈਨਕਸ ਓਪਰੇਟਿੰਗ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਸਰਵਰਾਂ, ਮੇਨ ਫਰੇਮਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਪਰ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰਜ਼ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਹੈ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਗਤ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰ ਇਸ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਘੱਟ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦਾ ਮੰਤਵ ਹੈ।
ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਤੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਐਮ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. (ਆਈ.ਟੀ.) ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਨਵਨੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਹਰਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਉਪਯੋਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੈਕਟੀਕਲ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਾਇਗੀ ਸ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਟੀਫ਼ਿਕੇਟ ਵੀ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਰਿਲ ਇਨਫੋਸਿਸਟਮਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਾਈਵੇਟ ਲਿਮਟਿਡ, ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਐਮ.ਡੀ. ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮਿਸਿਜ਼ ਪੂਨਮ ਮਲਹੋਤਰਾ ਨੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਹੇ। ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵਿਨੇ ਗਰਗ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗਣੇਸ਼ ਸੇਠੀ ਨੇ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੇ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤੇ। ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਹਰਮੋਹਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਦੇ ਫਰਜ਼ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਏ।
